I google searched “2018 Ford Fusion Lease Special” and opened the url for ford.com. On this page Ford is advertising a 24 month fusion red carpet lease deal of $139/mo.for 24 mos. with $2479 cash due at signing. The disclaimer reads $5750.00 in incentives( $3750 Customer Cash and $2000.00 RCL Renewal) and that anyone who returned a red carpet lease between 1/3/18 and 4/2/18 is eligible. I returned my Red Carpet Fusion lease 1/22/18 however when the dealers check with the manufacturer offerings through something called “Smart Vincent” it comes back that the return must have been within 90 days of purchase to be eligible.I spoke with the Ford marketing department and received no remedy. Does anyone have a suggestion for a course of action? Also, if I’m able to get the full $5750.00 in incentives is it unreasonable or unrealistic to ask for an additional $2000.00 discount to MSRP ? The MSRP for this particular model is $25,265.00. Thanks in advance.
Did you read the fine print and find anything about this so/called 90 day requirement?
I would target a min 10-12% dealer discount (the car doesn’t sell well) plus the entire incentive.
Otherwise forget Ford.
Thanks max_g. The disclaimer says nothing about 90 days only that if you returned a RCL between 1/3/18 and 4/2/18 you would be eligible. I’m trying to get a lease as close to $150.00 a month with little to no money down as possible and with max discount and incentives this would fit the bill.
Ok the time frame of the dates is 90 days from Jan to 4/2. So why have an incentive only for people that returned by 4/2 and not include till May? You might be looking at old add. 90 days dealer might be correct.
Great point. The question now becomes do think I could get the manufacturer to honor it since they still have it up on their site?
Try another dealer (or 2). If they say the same thing, odds are there was a 90 day time limit and you’re SOL.
This is going to be nowhere near that. This “deal” doesn’t include tax, tags, dealer fee, etc. It’s highly unlikely that the dealer can discount the car over $3000 to account for this and the downpayment specified because Ford sedans don’t have huge discounts off MSRP to begin with. The incentives aren’t very good this month so I would wait til June to see what incentives are
I’ve had several dealers tell me the same thing however, after reading ny13’s reply I took a closer look at the advertisement page. At the bottom of the page I found this
“The information Listed on the www.ford.com web site was posted correctly for ZIP Code 07430 on May 23, 2018 for the 2018 Ford Fusion. Your local Ford dealer is the best source for up-to-date information regarding events and offers. Not all models have specific offers associated with them.”
Is Ford at fault for posting outdated sales advertisements and do you think I can get them to honor it?
It seems you have already tried to get it honored without luck. Dealer won’t stick their neck out if they don’t think they would get paid the rebate back. They would love to sell you the car at the factory advertised price if you meet the incentive requirements posted on their system.
I’ve only spoken with the marketing department, i’ve put in a call to the office of the CEO and hopefully i’ll be speaking with someone today. The fact is I have probably called a dozen dealers and spent hours down this rabbit hole thanks to recent advertising on the manufacturers website. Maybe they’ll feel compelled to compensate me and maybe not, it can’t hurt to ask. I’ll keep the forum and you posted. Thanks
You’ll probably end up talking to the same bonehead who decided it would be good policy to sue your own customers, regardless of the immense negative publicity
Hopefully, we’ll soon find out.
