Extending BMW lease

Hi,

I’m looking at a BMW lease for 24 months. Another user looking to transfer their lease a month or two ago mentioned that you can easily extend a BMW lease by two months. Is that the case, and if so, what do you have to do to extend by those two months? Just keep paying the payments?

Thanks,
Paul

You have to call BMW Financial Services and state that you seek to extend your lease. Tell them that you are waiting for a car to come onto the lot so that you will stay with BMW

pretty much what @BoardWalkNJ said lol.
was typing almost the same thing.

remember this would require you to renew your registration for another year. I have done this in the past and was able to get 6 months from BMW.

Thanks guys! 20202020

I called few weeks ago wrt extension. They were willing to extend it by max of 2 months… No valid reasons necessary. But considering the registration and real lack of need, I didn’t

Renewing registration in FL isn’t terribly expensive, at least on my old cars. It might be worth it to get a couple more months… Plus, I can transfer the tag from one leased vehicle to another, can’t I? (I’m not well versed on leases, so perhaps I am wrong)

It’s a slight pain. You need to get power of attorney from leasing company to transfer plates. Lender owns them.

I requested a 2-month lease extension (for convenience, no questions asked). The BMWFS rep I spoke with said that they will pro-rate a refund if I turn the car in early during the 2-month extension window (between original lease-end and 2 month extension period). Can anyone confirm? Thanks

Yes, that’s their policy.

Can confirm. Doing this now actually, just bumped my lease out for a 2nd extra month.

Did anyone have success with a 6-month extension without having a car on order?

Was it as easy as just asking?

They’ll do 3-4 months at most, but it’s unlikely they’ll let you extend to 6 without a production number.

Were you able to get 3-4 months?

Yeah, I was given three months originally then another extension for a fourth month but only because I changed my plans and decided to lease another BMW. 2-3 months should be easy but beyond that you’ll need to be actively looking for a new BMW.

Yep, I just did this earlier this year!

Do they also extend the mileage on the lease? So if it was a 12k/yr lease, and you extend one month, will they give you an additional 1k miles?

Hi Gali did you ever find an answer to this question?

The answer is yes. If you receive an extension, it’ll be based on the existing terms of your lease agreement.

Apologies for resurrecting an old post, but it looks my 4xe isn’t going to arrive before my bmw lease expires at the end of the month. Honestly, I currently have no idea when to expect the 4xe. The process working with @Clutch was flawless, but the build has sat in gathering parts since June 9th.

Anyway, is it possible to extend my current bmw lease for 2-3 months?

Thanks!
