Though trying to understand why some folks seem to get the rebate in the “untaxed” incentive vs I am getting the “taxed” . Apart from that seems I could only push on the actual discount and squeeze a bit more?
That is a state thing. California still taxes the full pre‑rebate price on most rebates.
Manufacturer rebates, Lease cash, EV lease credits, etc. are usually taxed.
Dealer cash, Wholesale price support, Manufacturer‑to‑dealer allowances, etc. are usually untaxed.
The old rule for CA is, Everything is taxed. Now if your numbers are slightly higher you can mark something untaxed
