In before “Consumer Reports sucks” etc. (which they really do).

Not surprising though in general.

While CR does suck, I don’t think in this case they are that far off. R1T has this “funny” thing with its bed, where if you transport loose anything, the pieces may slide into the battery compartment underneath. There is a video on YT where the guy is in love with his truck but points out stupid shit, and he had a plant growing where the battery is because loose dirt got in there. He also had water accumulate in doors (slushing while driving) whenever it rained, which required drilling additional drain holes.

Why does Consumer Reports suck?

Ratings are garbage and the entire organization has become less than reliable. 30 years ago they were the gold standard (and maybe the only standard), but I have personally been burned by reviews they gave that just were not on the money and then in return cost me money.

There are other ways to perform your due diligence instead of/or in addition to CR.

There’s an overall full scale attack against EV adoption
But most knew this already

yes, it’s not that there are serious problems with infrastructure, qualtiy, availability, costs when new and resale value, and for most people hybrids making way more sense than BEV, it’s a giant anti EV conspiracy that’s happening.

You don’t have to look any further than the LH EQS thread to see that EV reliability is pretty low. As long as you’re leasing and everything gets fixed under warranty, I don’t see a problem with EVs. I wouldn’t buy one right now as a keeper.

I feel your message can be true at the same time as propaganda against EV by big oil

As opposed to the attack on ICE autos(and all other things gas by the left)?
The infrastructure isn’t there to start mandating this crap yet.
CA is going to regret it 5-10 years in
Its not a viable option in FL unless you have a second ICE/HYBRID in case of Evac…

What you feelbis an attack on EVs is nothing more than common sense based facts

there is always propaganda by big something against something else. Seeing how Tesla’s market cap is more than Exxon and more than all car manufacturers combined or close to it, a claim can be made that there is too much propaganda by big EV now. This argument can be spun in any direction anyone wants and there is no clear answer. But this has been argued to death at this point and will split “down party lines” anyways without any regard for actual facts.

CA will be fine. Every new Toyota will be either an EV or plug-in hybrid by 2035. Same with Hyundai. Jeep wouldn’t have to touch the current Wrangler or GC 4Xe, and they would be allowed to be sold in 2035.

But I’m really going to miss smelling the gas fumes from all the gas mowers and gas blowers in my neighborhood.

Out of curiosity, what is this based on?
They currently import 30% of their electricity.
They account for 25% of all the blackouts in the US

Current figures point to a disaster when CA shuts off ICE

3 years driving the Etron and really no major breakdowns. 22k miles on the odo. Drove i3 before that and same result.

This is why I exclude LH echo chamber from real numbers. Your fairly expensive product, while under warranty and below average driving distances hasn’t had any major breakdowns. Congratulations, take a cookie. Meanwhile an average age of the cars in the US is 12+ years, interest rates are through the roof as well as car prices, and people are not able to meet current bill obligations. At the same time reliability of older EVs is abysmal (mainly because the sample size is limited to mainly model 3), the batteries may not even last that long, and you ideally need to budget for a new battery at that age. EVs really sound good on paper while new, so not the case when you consider 2nd, 3rd owners.

My only concern with my EV would be the air ride. EV components are under warranty for 8/10 year or 100/150k miles.

People will continue to buy PHEVs and run them solely on gas.

And I quote…”For the first time ever, an all-electric vehicle — specifically the Tesla Model Y is now the world’s bestselling car. According to analyst data from Jato Dynamics (published by Motor1), the Tesla Model Y has surpassed Toyota’s RAV4 and Corolla models to top global sales rankings in the first quarter of 2023.”

That’s an amazing accomplishment for Tesla!

It’s been a bumpy road… but slowly EV Vehicles are starting to gain consumer acceptance…

I’ve read that EV‘s are starting to slow down in sales…but the long-term future still looks bright for EV’s!

There is a discord advertised here in its own thread dedicated to sucking Elon’s dick exclusively that likes cherry picked data as well.

Now I’m sure Tesla will create a fire sale end of december, lie about china numbers, and wind up with even more missing cars than the current 95K I belive, but we’ll see what the year works out to.
