Toyota making moves later than most, but good to see the BZ4XRay7LimaNiner didn’t dissuade them.
Maybe later than most = classic Toyota thing of waiting till they know what technology works and using that rather than unproven and untested innovations.
The Ultium platform and the EX90 being examples of other companies releasing products that were just not ready for sale to the public.
Interested to see where they price this. The 26 bz is selling much better than the previous years. I believe they improved a lot tho.
If this is priced around the same as the hybrids I think they will do well. I can’t imagine they can get that low on pricing tho…
Who knows maybe Ally will slap a ridiculous residual on it.
I haven’t seen a solid highlander lease since before Covid. Even if the residual is good the rate will be 7+
Problem is you bought a Stellantis vehicle.
It’ll be same old same old. $52-55K for the base. $72-75k for top trims with bigger batteries.
I dunno I’m disappointed by this. I know it’s a Toyota Highlander which is beige in car form but for a 2027 its so meh in terms of spec. Range and charging speed are already behind the EV9 which has been out for 3 years. I was hoping for something a little more exciting - but again, it’s a Highlander. Let’s be real.
If they do somehow find in their hearts to price it well - I can see it doing numbers and if they don’t - hey, maybe it’ll be leasehackr worthy!
TBF being meh is the entirety of Toyota’s business model.
Meh-yota.
I expect the EV9 refresh will be more compelling than the BZLander but it will probably outsell them because people love the Toys.
Subaru also rebadging it… Solterra L? Grand Solterra? Solterra Plus?
Meanwhile Rivian going the other way with the R2 which looks really nice.
I am genuinely intrigued by the inverse correlation between the claimed amount of write-down and the market reception of the resulting products.
I bet there is a lot of “hide this under the EV rug” going on. ![]()
Of course they dont mention the 7500 incentives and where those went
They managed to loose 26B on Wagoneer S and Fiat 500? It like 1 mil per vehicle ?
Polestar 4 Wagon planned! With this and the new BZ Woodland and Trailseeker twins, will we see a Wagon renaissance in our EV era? (crosses fingers!)
Include the Charger. Assuming they sold 20,000 units of WagS and Charger combined, that’s like $1.3m per unit.
And they leased for like $300/m? LH Score of 1.3m/300 = 4333 years?
Congratulations to those who are driving these ultra-luxury vehicles.
The “funny” thing is they lost that much per unit and that is with them either cutting corners or, i think more likely, at some point realizing they were essentially drawing dead with the Wagoneer S but rather than pulling the plug instead trying to release a half baked product. They were probably hundreds of millions of additional dollars away from putting out something that was comparable to other EVs at that price point.
While a wagon fan, it’s a stretched 4 with a proper rear hatch. So more like a slightly lower CUV than a proper wagon like an A6 Avant or V90 or i5 Touring, which is too bad.
Starting at $45k before rebates, the RZ is quite compelling. Lexus build quality, great service (free car washes!), 300 miles of range.
After recent software upgrades Wagoneer is now a decent product. Fiat is just a lifestyle vehicle, very niche.
