EV Discussion Thread

Your rate is likely going up anyway so it wouldn’t matter. Anyone shocked by an increase needs to get their head out of the sand.

And if your head is in the sand, you should probably have flood insurance

Finally got the numbers to compare.

Progressive renewal

House $4k and Auto $2k. Total $6k

best broker find

House $3.7k and car $3.5k. Total 7.2k

That’s just life. NY has some laws around direct premiums increases from a glass claim (obvi companies usually remove certain ‘discounts’ instead).

Try NJM if you’re in CT for comparison. Honestly, those Progressive numbers aren’t bad in this environment.

I’ve seen way too many posts here where people say that their insurance doesn’t go up with a glass claim, then find out , yes it doesn’t..until you change companies. Your original company might forgive you and not raise your rates, but your next one will not.

Just a PSA.

The right decision. GM and Ford have enough trouble moving their expensive EV full size trucks.

Just a heads up, the part is being released on 10-1 to third parties and dealers.

Good points. I have noticed the same with EA. When it works, the speed is great, but the extra steps with the app make it less seamless than Superchargers. Tesla still wins on ease of use, but EA’s free sessions are definitely a nice perk.

I have 2 different brand EVs that are plug and charge at EA.

It’s just as easy as Tesla SCs.

SC still wins on overall availability, uptime and amenities nearby.

Most EAs in my area are near Walrats or Targets…

…but I still have free EA, so it wins every time.

Change the plan and charge the EV overnight.

Got my registration renewal, there’s a warning if I don’t pay the PA road use ev tax $200, I will not be able to renew it again next year, my lease ended next year, hmm

Trigger warning: Long-winded EV roadtrip anecdote with very little payoff at the end. Probably not worth your time.

We know from previous experience that our Blazer EV won’t get the estimated 279 miles of range unless it’s driven between 20 and 32 mph on surface streets while being pulled by oxen.

We only trust it for 190 miles of freeway driving.

So yesterday on the first half of a 250-mile roundtrip to Blennerhassett Island we stopped at a ChargePoint station behind a Ford dealership about 2/3 of the way to our destination.

To my surprise the Ford dealer wasn’t yet open, which wouldn’t have mattered except I had to use the restroom.

The Super 8 looked too far away to walk, at least for a lazy person who has to pee, although I briefly wondered if the self-serve breakfast was still out at 10 a.m.

But…

A short walk further back behind the dealership there was this Dumpster™, which offered some privacy.

Once secluded and underway, it didn’t take long before I realized that the pavement was sloping toward me.

I was wearing sandals, and I stupidly thought that I could just move my left foot out of the way and everything would be okay.

But by this time the river had forked, and now each foot was rapidly being approached by its own stream.

Anyway, I had to abort that mission and decided to just finish the job when we got to Parkersburg.

Also, $0.51 / kWh to charge at 92 kW in the middle of Ohio is obscene.

What’s with all the people bailing out on Lyriq leases on the forum all of a sudden?

We bought an Optiq last month

Just got approved for DCAP(drive clean assistance program) for $7500. What’s the best way to navigate this? Don’t want to waste not using it.

Sell current optiq and rebuy with DCAP? Only few days left before tax credit expires too Help!!! Lol
