EQS Sedan front License plate

I am in California and I technically have to install a front license plate.
While I don’t think a front license plate looks good on an EQS, If I have to install one I would like to avoid drilling into the front bumper.

Things i am considering:

  • Tow hook license plate
  • Sticker license plate
  • Risk it and don’t install one (its only a 24 month lease)
  • Other, I am looking to tap into the wisdom of the crowd for other ideas and suggestions

I believe it’s a $50 ticket which might be cheaper than all your other options.

Don’t bother. They won’t ever stop you for that. In their list of priorities, it’s probably right at the bottom

Luckily for me my dealer didn’t drill no holes so I got the following:

Plate Holder: https://www.slybrackets.com/store/SLY-BRACKET-FOR-MERCEDES-BENZ-EQS-WITH-HORIZONTAL-SLAT-LOWER-GRILLE-p567471110

I also highly recommend the leveler: (you can thank me later) https://www.slybrackets.com/store/LEVELER-FOR-LICENSE-PLATE-WITH-SLY-BRACKET-RECOMMENDED-FOR-MOST-VEHICLES-p193906413

Tow hook ftw but I personally don’t do FLP’s

This is not legal advice. I am not an attorney nor a biologist.

I needed a front plate quick because I had to suddenly street park in various places around the city.

I went on Amazon and got this. It simple, $13 and you don’t see the zip ties. It was supposed to be a temporary solution until I ordered a Slyplate but I ended up deciding I didn’t need to spend the money

I was in a rush when installing the bracket and it was easier to mount the bracket offset to one side than directly in the middle

I was looking at kits like these before getting a Slybracket but was disappointed by the mere presentation and quality of the products, although I’ve gotta say for 13 buckaroos that looks slick.

Attached is mine for reference:

If I can’t see the zip ties……they don’t exist….or that’s what I tell myself :grimacing:

I’m in Los Angeles and meter maids love giving no front plate tickets.

I use mini suction cups on the license plate. No frame require and just stick it on the front if I need to street park. Take it off before driving away

I’m happy with my license plate wrap, but that’s on an e-tron GT where there was a logical place to apply it (the surface has a textured pattern molded into it, but the plasti-plate adapted and adhered just fine).

From the photos I see no logical location on the EQS, unless you can tolerate the glaring asymmetry that would result from slapping it onto either side of the manhole-cover-sized MB logo that festoons the center of the plastic grill.

you’d be blocking off too many star emblems on the grille. I don’t think people would be able to recognize it’s a Mercedes

I bought that along with the leveler and tried to install it.

It doesn’t work for my 2023 EQS 450+ with the standard grill. I have 2 inch wide horizontal slats and it can only handle 1.25 inches. That’s the farthest it would spring out. How did you get yours to work? I see that you have the AMG trim grill.

I had no issue installing it, took less than five minutes to set up and install. Do you have the 2-screw or 4-screw plate holder?

The mounts where the red arrow points outwards extend farther than 1.25’’

I bought the 4 screw plate, but I think my slats might be wider. There might be a difference between the base grill and AMG grill. They are sending me a larger version of that spring, so hopefully that works. Thanks for replying.

Also, not sure if they originally sent me the Bozzmount HG.

I just have them the year and model of the car, and a pic of the grill. They sent me something but I don’t know exactly what I got.

When the larger spring shows up, I’ll post an update.

Thanks!

Got it to work, they sent another spring bracket. It appears there are 2 versions, one can do 2 inch slats and a larger one up to 4 inches.

I didn’t use the leveler, because it made it stick out another 1.5-2.0 inches which didn’t look good.

Thanks for your help!
