End of lease issues

,

My wife’s 17 CR-V lease ends in about a month and it looks like we are going to have to turn it in. The leasing company (CAL automotive) does not provide an inspection before turning it in and from what I’ve read they hit you hard with any damages. The car has some scratches (including a very light one along side…about 2 ft long) but no dents or accidents. Obviously this worries me so I’d like to get an inspection on my own dime. Has anyone ever done this and if so what company did you use? Cost?

We were going to sell the vehicle through VROOM but then the leasing company gave us a higher buy quote because they are considered a third party. VROOM offered 22k and the leasing company wanted 23k.

Appreciate any help. Thanks!

Have you tried to buff out the scratch?

Take this beautiful day in NJ to really look over every single body panel. Document anything that is considered excess. Celebrate the savings with a 6 pack or three

Ah I was curious about that . Nmac give the assisted dealer buyout then the non dealer +1600 :man_facepalming:

Drive it through mud before you return it so they can’t see the scratch

Or just buff it out.

So the leasing company is buying it out? Or are you saying that your contract residual is $23k?

I’ll definitely document everything with lots of pictures. Also, driving through some mud sounds like a good idea haha.

The leasing company gave me a buy price of 21k and when I told them I wanted to sell it to VROOM they said the price was 23k for them since they were a third party. Didn’t know this was even a thing and it took me by surprise.

I think vroom will revise their quote if you tell them you were offered more. They may match it.

I don’t have an answer but a piggy back question:

Sorry, I was sure how to start a msg so just picked some folks…I needed a low payment so I took the lease knowing I’d go over and thought I’d just buy the car. I now know that wasn’t a stellar idea. Even with a 1.5% for 4 years with the credit union my payment is going up approx $130. At the end of it all, will have leased for 3 yrs & financed for 4. I could realistically drive it for 10 years…I’m not a super snob:) BUT… since I now only live 4 miles from work maybe a new lease would work. I HATE negotiating, and always feel like I’m getting swindled…TMI. Anyway, I just put nice, brand new snow tires on it and I also put a hitch on it (which may be bad if trying to turn it back in) I really drove it. A few surface scratches, a lil, lil dent. Is it even worth my time trying to get them to eat the miles and put me in a new lease or even purchased a new sube?

Don’t necrobump old threads from the grave.
