Ha! Back in the day, say 10 years ago when I’d charge my i3, I’d wait to that 29:50 marker and unplug and plug in again to get that thing to 75miles of range in the winter and avoid the extra cost lol
@Zenek this is one of the reasons why I’m holding off the F150⚡️. Not ready to go back full EV in the tristate just yet.
I think these are new chargers to replace the old ones, EA has been updating them. But yeah, Carle Place had issues, was trying to use them a month ago and two were down. From the reviews, seemed like it was happening for a while before that visit too.
One of the spots I go to changed to a Congestion one… 85% and it shuts off. So good… took me only 26 minutes from 18%-85%… the ID4s that were there before me were still under 85%.
I was at a 350kw charger at getting 150kw with a mostly empty station. Another car (Kia EV6) pulled up beside me and plugged in. After about 5 minutes I dropped down to 100kw, instantly, not because of a rampdown. I guess they’ll “balance” like that? I also was able to get 200+kw at the same station on a charger that was closer to where they had all the machinery, so maybe that makes a difference as well.
Commercial Ford E-Transit pulled in to this DCFC right before me. He is at an angle because his port is in the front, taking up not only the charging spot, but also a family parking spot, plus he is sticking half way out into the parking lot lane. This blows my mind how inconsiderate people are.
Planning a trip to Boston in the EQS. Staying at hotel walking distance to this EA charger to spit the trip and spend a few hrs in NYC the next morning. Reviews are horrible with super long lines. Anyone have experience with this one?
Been there once, it’s fairly large for an EA station, I only waited like 10-15 mins on a busy weekend day, but keep in mind that is attached to a huge destination mega-mall, so except a wait to be able to plug in, I’d say.
It’s a popular stop as it’s also collocated with a Tesla site. Biggest problem I’ve had with this site is broken chargers that show up as available on the app. It’s busy during the normal morning and evening rush hours times but you usually don’t have to wait long and lots of overflow parking is available.
This might be your bigger challenge since the 2023 EQS doesn’t have a heat pump. I think we lost about 30% range on highway driving earlier this year and temps were in the 50s.
Ya the lack of a heat pump sucks. Plus I know on the 24’s you can decouple the 4matic and make it 2 wheel drive… likely saving even more range. FWIW these still have solid range but that’s mainly due to the huge battery.
