Electrify America - Experiences and Discussion

This kind of crap is why I dumped my eqs suv for an X7. When you go on road trips during holiday seasons these kind of stuff happens all the time. It’s just a huge waste of time.

You realize it’s Baker, right? Death Valley got nothing on it!

Vegas road trip time!

Although the loophole existed for a while, it’s an interesting choice to dispute a charge for something which is clear against the Electrify America Terms of Service!

It is in the spirit of LeaseHackers so we can’t be too mad at it! :grinning: :grinning:

I wasn’t abusing the system. The Audi app (with free charging) would not properly activate the EA charger…a known problem. I spent 15-20 mins trying to get it to work and waiting on hold with EA. In the past, when the Audi app wouldn’t work, I would use the EA app and then later spend 15-20 mins getting EA to reverse the charges once they validated that I qualified for free charging. One these 2 occasions, I used the BMW app instead, hoping to avoid having to waste even more time with EA. The Audi was eligible for free charging. I was just trying to overcome technical deficiencies with the EA network.

Yes, you are correct that such usage is not in accordance with the terms and conditions. But your implication is misplaced.

My EA charger is only 10-15 minutes away, roundtrip take 10 miles. My home electricity cost is .15/kwh. At best, it’s only $1-2 cheaper if I go to EA to charge. Not sure if that’s worth the effort to go there.

Only for speed of charge depending on your vehicle.

I’m in a similar situation. I only bother going to EA if I’m in the neighborhood anyway. I won’t make a trip specifically for it.

I think the only time it makes sense is when you are planning a roadtrip and need the charge to continue/get back home

This isn’t EA’s fault, but around 4:45 this morning I had several available options within a reasonable driving distance.

Weather forecast showed a 4% chance of rain, so I left in my pristinely clean vehicle.

The electricity was free, but now I need another ~$30 car wash.

Nice to see I’m not the only one with the “pending” status. Last time the transaction went thru was April 12th for me :woozy_face:

But hey at least the charging works… for the most part.

Wash your car yourself.

It’s the easiest maintenance anyone can do.

I’d be a lot more annoyed if it was only pulling 40KW @90%

Why would I care about something that doesn’t affect me? It’s not like your car’s charing speed will increase if the bus’s speed decreases.

If you don’t care about Bolts charging at 4kw at 95%, then I guess you don’t mind a bus hogging a port for 2 hours.
