My dad has some back problems and has decided he wants an SUV due to it being easier for him to get into and out of. Personally, I think that an SUV would be too big for him and in his older age would be harder for him to drive. Do you guys have suggestions for a smaller SUV/crossover that would ride higher and be easier for him to get into, but not be too big where it’ll be harder for him to drive.
I have similar challenges and as a result hate sedans. I used to own a CMAX Energi which was easy to get in and out of, so would recommend taller hatchbacks. Especially if he isnt that tall so the low downness of a hatchback isn’t an issue. Also, I saw an infomercial for something called a “car cane” which aided in getting out of car (I think from the makers of the “hurry cane”).
Thanks all the tips and suggestions! It’s funny, I was actually thinking the kia soul might be good for him. My wife was leasing the Kia Soul (and now I’m forced to drive it) and though I don’t like it, it actually may be good for him. I’ll have him try it out. I like the idea of the X1 and Forrester too since they’re relatively small but ride a little higher.
Thanks for the suggestion about the car cane. I’m not sure if my dad would go for that, but it seems like a good idea.
