Driver Assistance Plus packages for BMW X3 and Benz GLC 300

Hello folks,

Wondering why it is so difficult to find Driver Assistance Plus packages for both X3 and GLC300, both 2019 and 2020 models. Is this safety feature something that a lot of people do not care for?

Agreed
Comes standard on every $21,000 Subaru Legacy, Toyota Camry, and Honda Accord and plenty others…
I can’t understand it either.

It’s unreasonable to expect any specific equipment to be standard on one car just because it is standard on other cars.

The cost for the technology in question on models where it is standard is baked into the price of the vehicle; it isn’t free.

If I was in the market for a Camry, I’d prefer a discount for omitting these features. But I wouldn’t have that choice.

For me, for example, I’d rather not have all those nanny features in my car. I’ve driven multiple cars with lane assist and had to turn that off all the time. It felt weird.

I’ve had adaptive cruise control in two recent rental cars (Toyota RAV4 and Subaru Outback) and hated it on both of those cars. I wasn’t able to find an obvious way to override the “adaptive” part.

Scenario: You’re barreling comfortably down the open freeway after setting the cruise control at 83 mph. Then, sometime later you look at the speedometer and realize you’re going 58 (and probably have been for 15 minutes because there’s a truck 1/2 mile ahead in the same lane).

Maddening.

I think you can disable or enable it… My 2019 Lexus ES350 has it and I can enable it when I want it. It is very helpful in stop and go traffic

They’re just not allocated with those features all that often. I kinda gave up on finding an X3 M40i that had it after only really seeing ones in the very high 60’s packaged with it. Wasn’t worth paying the $100/mo premium just to have it and some other features we didn’t care for (ventilated seats without massage? puh-lease)

BMW X3 has 2 packages - the basic driver assist pkg which has all the safety features except ACC. Most cars are equipped with basic package. It is the plus pkg with the ACC that is difficult to come across. Looks like it’s the ACC feature that is not very popular.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Off Topic Landfill

I know… Bummer.

If it takes you 15 minutes to realize that, it’s probably a good thing for everyone else on the road that you have adaptive cruise control

If I had to choose between the latest technology vs some luxury options like leather seats - I would go for the latest tech. But apparently that’s now how most think.

Drive assist plus is alright. The drive assist PRO is pretty good about maintaining speed and safe distance on the freeway. I drive Highway 280 every day and it can make majority of wide turns by itself maintaining speed. It’s not a straight highway for more then 1-2 miles before a wide turn so I appreciate having the pro to guide the car correctly. Still requires hands on wheel and eyes forward (they have a device watching you to make sure you pay attention).

Gotta pay to play, Jay.

Pro is pretty cool but steering a bit sloppy considering what you pay for it. Wish it wasn’t so needy but I guess it comes with the territory.

Yeah, the ACC Stop + Go is much better in traffic when you’re under 30mph. Almost no need to touch accelerator or brake.

I think the 360 camera and 3D view with Park Assist is the best feature on the BMW. Makes parking and navigating through tight areas SO easy. Having driven only sedans, I thought parking would be a nightmare in the X5 but its relatively easy. The auto park feature is useless considering it takes more time to properly align the car to self park than to just park yourself lol

Auto park is next to worthless for me however the 3D camera is nothing short of awesome (Our X3 has it)

Guys, I am struggling to make a decision here. Should I go for a 2019 X3 to get the lease incentives ($2,500 value) or wait for a few months to get similar deals for 2020 models during the holiday season. There is no guarantee that there will be similar deals…

autopark is only good for parallel parking, every vehicle that parks perpendicular takes forever, not worth it. The cool thing about the backup assistant is if you drive in a tight garage and hit a dead end the vehicle will back track for you.

Drive across the width of Minnesota on I-90 and tell me how much attention it requires.

And “15 minutes” was hyperbole. To make a point.
