Does Visiting a Dealer the Last Day of the Month Make Difference?

,

Been shopping the Q7 for the past month. Does visiting the dealership on the last day of the month up my chances at getting a better deal?

Short on time today but wondering if it may be worth it. I’m sure it’s all circumstantial but any general feedback?

It does if theyre close hitting a volume bonus and need that one extra sale. It doesn’t if they arent. No way to know.

It’s either completely worth it or a complete waste of time. Depends on where they’re at for the month.

Yes or could lead to some BS shenanigans if the salesman you’re working with needs to hit a number but the dealer doesn’t.

Sending an email offer might be more effective. If they need a looser sale badly they will respond to you in 5 minutes.

Depends…if the last day of the month is Saturday, good luck getting an email response. In theory, they’re going to be flooded with tire kickers and won’t be looking at email.

You’d think but I’ve actually emailed an embarrassingly large of Volvo/Audi dealerships since mid-October in MA and NH and receive a response within minutes sometimes seconds every time. It’s pretty crazy, I picture all Massachusetts dealerships completely empty while talking to them now even though I know that’s not the case😂.

Thanks all for your input. I didn’t end up getting a chance to go down so I guess I’ll never know.

Who are you e-mailing? they have receptionists and outsource e-mails to other agencies to reply. you need to e-mail sales manager.

Don’t get taken for a ride on the Q7. in a few months a completely redesigned version of the car will be out. Audi’s lease horribly but the dealer needs to make up for it by discounting 25-35% off MSRP.

Just emailing the general contact provided on website or sometimes submitting on inquiry form on a specific vehicle however it’s an eager sales manager who emails (actually more often texts backs) every time.

Yes, I much prefer the 2020 redesign but isn’t it more likely that dealers will be more motivated to unload the 2019s to make room? Have you seen 35% discounts on here?

I haven’t seen any on here but i think 25% should be attainable. since 2020 is coming soon the 2019’s should be easier to get.

audi’s lease horrible generally speaking.

Are you basing your 25% number on anything or just think that sounds like a fun number to target?

seems like a good number to target on this car based on what the XC90’s have been going for.

Xc90s have been going for 10-13% off pre-incentive. Do Q7s have the same amount of incentives available to make up that big of a discount if you base the numbers on a similar pre-incentive discount?

Dealer doesn’t “need” to discount the car 5% If they don’t want to. I also would t hold my breath on 25-35% off either, especially with no replacement on the lot yet.

You could get an xc90 for 80% off and that is of no concern to the Audi dealer. Don’t be shocked if they drive you down to the Volvo dealer personally and tell you to take it.

If you are going to play the “last day of the month” game, understand that for dealers it generally is NOT the last day of the calendar month. The month often closes in the first few days of the following calendar month. The day that the dealer considers month-end is driven by two primary factors. The first is the day that OEM incentives expire, and the second is the dealer’s floorplan financing inventory date (usually those two dates align). The OEM date dictates how much selling support there is if the car is sold, while the floorplan date dictates how much cash the dealer will have to reach into its pocket and pay to the bank if the car is NOT sold, since any unsold car on the lot as of that date will incur another month’s worth of financing charges for the dealer. The OEM date could be a non-issue if no programs are expiring that month or could be a reverse factor if they are expected to get better the next month. But the floorplan date always costs the dealer money.

There are too many variables to say yes or no with any confidence. I will say that it helped when purchasing my 530i … but that was at a family-owned BMW dealership which has it’s own set of nuances.

Shoot me a PM if you would like an assist. I know a few people at dealerships in MA.
