Does everybody bought the wear and tear insurance for Mercedes Benz EQB lease?

This is not asking for input on a deal but checking if everybody bought the wear and tear insurance for Mecedes Benz EQB lease or other car lease. Is it worth it? Is it negotiable?

How much is it and what is the coverage?

It’s $1700 to cover wear and tear up to $7500. Here is the link https://www.mbusa.com/content/dam/mb-nafta/us/pdf/protection-products/First-Class-Lease-Protection.pdf

Never have, probably never will. YMMV

Don’t buy it and take care of your Benz.

I would pass.

It is negotiable but it is really up to the finance manager that is selling it.

Normal wear and tear is expected, and results in no lease-end charges per your lease contract… because it’s impossible to return a car in new condition after using it for its intended purpose.

Please read this.

When is the last time you had $7,500 worth of vehicle damage that resulted from normal use?

Only insure what you can’t afford to lose - life, health, liability, autos and home. Everything else self insure. Save a fortune over a life time.

So how much does a set of tires cost on the Mercedes? For $1700 you don’t need to worry about replacing tires at end of lease, small dents, chipped windshields, etc. Is that peace of mind worth it to you? I don’t know how picky MB is when it comes to lease end. I have never bought it on any of my leases, and have never really needed it.

High probability that it does not cover tire replacements at lease end.

Not covered

Not chargeable up to the size of a credit card (it’s spelled out on the page I linked).

You can fill a noticeable chip for ~$100.

No.

No, no, no, a thousand times no.

Oh, and no.

That’s a separate plan also being sold for :moneybag:

Some poor schmuck got to prepay for the peace of mind of driving on bald tires right until the day he returned it.

My experience has been that tires are one of the most common lease end expenses. If MB lease protection does not cover tire wear below 4/32" at end of lease, then not worth even considering. maybe that is why I have never bought such a policy. My experience has been mostly with BMW. Most recently BMW tried to charge me for tires that still had more than half the tread life left on them. That charge was quickly removed, but required calling BMWFS and disputing the inspection. They easily removed the charge, so you know it is a scheme to defraud people of money they otherwise should not have to pay.

tbh, I think your experience with tires was human error somewhere along the line… perhaps inspector error.

Did you replace the tires during the term of the lease (and if so, did they meet the turn-in requirements)?

I paid $1200 (it was negotiable) for my 330e lease about 5 y ago and they covered a lost key, 2 tires right at 3 mm and a bumper cover scratch from some schlum that backed into me. I feel like I got my money’s worth, and the peace of mind knowing every time I thought I lost my key, it would be covered (I finally lost one and it was). That was BMW, the MB experience sounds like it may be somewhat different. But the peace of mind thing, like with any insurance, may be worth it to some.

I got the PWC lease care for $686 in 2021 and seems like it was residualized as well. I am not sure if this is same as https://www.mbusa.com/content/dam/mb-nafta/us/pdf/protection-products/First-Class-Lease-Protection.pdf
