Dodge Hornet R/T . Fake $4k dealer discount on the quote. How to deal with that?

Hello Folks
Happy Monday.

Looking for a cheap commuter for family member.
One dealer offers $4k pure discount but when it comes to the quote it looks like the discount if fake.
Does anyone know (@thevolvoguy) if their software allows dealer to make fake quotes using huge discounts and rebates but showing monthly payments with the selling price at sticker?
Also the dealer doesn’t want to apply affiliate rebate saying it is either dealer discount or 1% below invoice. Any way to prove that they are wrong?
I have $1k DM rebate but i would like to introduce this at the last stage of negotiations.

I attached LH calculator for comparison.

TIA for any feedback

The discount is not “fake” there’s just a discrepancy somewhere between the dealer’s quote and the numbers you’ve put into your calculator.

Affiliate does only guarantee 1% under invoice. There are some dealers that will do more with it, but there is no obligation for them to do so.

What “discrepancy” ?
We are like $100/m apart.
I corrected dealer fees.

For starters I would double check the taxes both on your end and the dealers. It looks like the dealer sheet has $973 in upfront taxes which are not on your calculator. Dealers get taxes wrong all the time on initial quote sheets.

Agree. The taxes will be much higher .
I have another quote from NY dealer with proper taxes. IMO It proves that those quotes are all made up.

I’m confused by this “asking for quotes” concept.

Dealer can’t give a made up quote if you never ask them how much they want you to pay.

It’s a crappy car but a good deal. Decide which is more important to you.

The deal. This driver will be barely making 5k miles a year

Could an EV work for them?

Unfortunately, not. The driver lives in an apartment building without a garage. Street parking.

Sounds like the software allows the dealer to make funny quotes. They can always edit the PDF using Acrobat professional, but i do not think they know how to do it, LOL

K then construct a target deal and make offers.

Negotiating will just lead to gaslighting, confusion and frustration.

The answer to your question is that there are multiple ways to manipulate a quote to do what you’re saying, yes. I don’t think it’s very common, but it can be done.

If they’re making a genuine mistake, try to be nice and help them get the math right or try to get in touch with a manager directly, if not, move on quickly.

I think this is a genuine mistake, the payments match exactly without the dealer discount. Just ask them to correct it?

LOL. They made this quote that way to prove they provided a $4k dealer discount, and when i said it is a mistake, they said there is no mistake.
I know everyone wants to make money, but this industry is deceitful to the unrealistic level.

A $4k difference in discount would make a lot more than $100/mo difference on a 24 month term though.

I agree. The quote is messed up for sure showing at least $600 deficit in taxes.
Also to be at the the " dealer payment" you need 3% discount. So technically we are about $2700 apart :grinning:

I can get reynolds and reynolds to show any price I want and any payment I want.

Their math is not adding up at all with what I would expect
