Do You Have a Rant? Vent Here

Doesn’t have to be lease (or car) related.

About a week ago I emailed a charity using the general email address on their web site, inquiring about how to volunteer.

Four days later I got a response, with the name and email address of the volunteer coordinator. I guess forwarding my email and cc:ing me was too much trouble.

I emailed him right away, but I’m still waiting for a response.

For me, it’s always the people in the grocery store that are oblivious that anyone else is around them. Parking their carts in the middle of aisles, while they talk to their friends, etc, etc. The temptation to ram their carts grows with each visit.

People who watch YT content like CarEdge and then die on the hill of asking for OTD pricing as part of their leasing “strategy”

Not a big fan of all the folks who either want to be spoonfed a unicorn deal or those looking for dealer info to replicate a one-off deal.

The culture and content has changed since I joined.

There is a lot less teaching and learning, and a lot more panhandling for sure.

Maybe it is a certain demographics of users who just want to be handed a deal on a silver platter with minimal effort.

Or folks who don’t bother to read basic information. I’ve been engaging less and less on the forum for some of these reasons.

After posting my last lease and inviting PMs with dealer info (they were willing to replicate and were fine screening the leads), I got ~30 PMs, and responded promptly to all of them with contact details and everything they needed to know (including how to get a TDM code).

I’d have to go back and count, but I’d guess that 25 didn’t bother to even reply with a thank you.

~2 of the responses were very gracious, including from one person who took the time to thank me again later even though he ended up getting a different vehicle.

I get this all the time, and I am sure other brokers/dealers do too. I get messages saying “I found your thread on LH, what deals do you have”. If you found my thread, then you know what I have listed.

People who, when walking in a parking lot, crossing from the curb to the parking lot, or walking from one side of the lot to another, walk diagonally, or any way other than straight/in the most direct path possible to minimize their time spent being in the way of people trying to drive.

If I were a broker, I would respond with these two questions:

  1. What is your credit score (not from Credit Karma)?
  2. What is your budget?

:joy:

I’d make the argument that the Venn diagram overlap of the diagonal walkers also includes the “I’ll leave the cart in the middle of the aisle” people @CarRhino was referring to above.

Now I’ll add my two cents in: It’s probably the same people who rolled out of bed in a pair of pajama pants & a questionable T-shirt, threw on some Crocs looked in the mirror and said, “I’m ready to tackle the day”!

By tackle the day I mean walk diagonally across the parking lot, drag my Crocs across the ground, park my cart in the middle of the aisle, and have a FaceTime conversation w/ speakerphone on while doing laps around said store.

What do you want your payment to be???

Most folks on LH are payment shoppers, anyway.

Hey I’m a payment shopper, and my deals have been the best on the site at the time I got them. It saves me and the dealer time. I still know what I qualify for, get my TDM codes, etc. , but I don’t quiz the sales guy going back and forth on every penny of every line.

You must be an informed payment shopper - sort of a unicorn on this site.

My off the wall rant as a former car detailer (only for 3 months ) is this: I don’t understand why almost all cars come with carpeting. It traps dirt, is hard to clean properly (shampoo), and holds onto odors. Why can’t cars come with a tuxmat like material for the floor material as standard? Then you could add carpeted mats on top if you really wanted to.
