Destination charge---what's the smart approach?

i’ve been getting lease quotes from various dealers, one of whom sent me a quote with the following:

Warning: Some Dealers are Pricing New Hondas less Destination
Then they add it on your final paperwork…We Don’t…It’s Included!

…what’s your interpretation of this message? what’s the smart thing to remember about the destination charge and how to deal with it when negotiating a lease?

Destination is a part of MSRP. Period. Selling price is selling price. I don’t understand the consternation.

i have a dealer quoting selling price 10.6% off msrp on a 2019 honda accord sport 1.5L … since i live in a minor market (peoria, il metro) should i expect to bargain much lower? i just read a couple posts where people going for the same car were considering 12% and nearly 14% discounts, respectively, but both were encouraged by posters to haggle for even more discount…my understanding, at this point, is if i were bargaining in chicago or some other major market where there’s lots of competition i could press for more discount — but in a minor market (only two honda dealers in peoria metro area) i don’t know what’s realistic to go for…thoughts?

There is no standard that can be defined for all minor markets. If you don’t want to expand your search, contact your 2 local dealers and you will find out how your market is.

Can we just keep all your questions in one thread please?

There is no standard and it depends on many many factors. Just reach out to every dealer within comfortable driving distance.

can you help a newbie out on what you mean by this? i’ve asked questions about brokers, msrp discounts, destination charges, $0 drive-off, etc., and they all seemed to be different topics, even though all are related to leasing…how can all these topics be in one thread?

If you make a thread for every topic that pops into your head you’ll end up with 5 threads in 2 days as you’ve done. If everyone did this, it would completely clog the forum up. Just ask them all in one thread and we will help you. I see you’re looking for an Accord Sport so just rename the title of the thread and ask away!

They’re all related to your current quest to get an Accord

welcome to new cars and online pricing lots of dealers have great internet prices and “forget” to add destination in, for example, ford dealership did it on the f150s, cdjr dealership did it to me on the hellcat, and the list goes on and on.

This is why when I ask for sales price I ask for incentives, is freight/destination included, and what the actual dealer discount is.

That dealer is using a scare tactic, don’t buy into it.
