If I was denied the Barclays GM card, do I have any other options in order to get the $500 discount for sign up? Could I have a friend sign up and add me as an authorized user? Any tips would appreciated. Thanks
If you can’t pass underwriting on a GM credit card with Barclays, you’re unlikely to pass an underwrite to lease a car…

Your friend would need to cosign the lease to get the $500 incentive. I don’t think it’s worth the hassle.
Do you know why they’d decline someone with FICO that high? Have you opened a bunch of other CCs very recently?

Same here, but I have had Barclays before with an AA card and thought it was a garbage bank, so decided it was not worth fighting to save $500.
They reason they gave me was identity verification issue, yet apparently have no method to provide additional verification, and said to just apply again in 3 months.
Credit score is mid 700’s and have no late payments recorded on cards from just about every other major bank (Citi, Amex, Chase)

I’m dreading the 2026 finalization of the Barclays / AA divorce, because it means switching a bunch of spending over to Citi. 
My Aviator Silver has been one of our main household cards since AA changed the loyalty program to promote card spending, and in that time I can count the problems I’ve had on zero fingers.
