I have done a few out of state deals and this is probably the longest distance one so far. From DE to CO. Anyway, dealer called before pulling credit mentioning they will have to hold the car until the lease is funded, which they couldn’t tell how long it can take, specially with the holidays. And asked if I want to proceed with this condition.
They mentioned that I’m too far for them to let the car be shipped, or driven from the dealer (even if I wanted to pick up) and that is too much liability for them.
Is this a normal practice? I’m not in a rush, but doing one-pay and leaving the car waiting sounds strange and not something I’ve experienced before. I hope to hear some of you experienced hackers. Thanks
This happened to me for almost 12 days on a PND via Leasehackr out of Arizona. Also a one-pay deal, mine on a Nissan Titan. Ultimately, they rewrote the lease to start on the day I actually got the truck shipped, but it was a frustrating 12 days after payment before the truck shipped.
That would not be as interesting to me, I need the contract to be in 2024 for taxes purposes. They did say it would not be a problem, so I assume they would not rewrite the contract.
Besides the headache, I’m glad it worked out for you at the end.
This is not uncommon. That’s just part of taking a deal from another part of the country. Waiting for the vehicle needs to be built into your $$$ equation.
They are probably worried about messing up the CO rebates etc and having it not fund or them not get the money from CO. Can an out of state dealer use CO specific rebates?
Ah, I really don’t know much about CO rebates (except that they are awesome for EV’s). I think they are just worried the car leaves, they don’t get funded and have to pay to get the car back
