I recently signed a lease on a 2018 Accord. The first lease…they entered an incorrect address, so I went in a couple weeks later to sign a new lease which pushed back my payment obviously.
When I was signing my new lease (digitally) they scrolled past the numbers right to each point where I had to initial/sign. I went back to look at all the numbers today and realized they added about $500 to the agreed upon value of the vehicle which essentially added $500 to my residual.
The thing is, is that I have 1600 miles on this leased vehicle after a couple road-trips so I would basically be agreeing to 34,400 miles over the course of 36 mos.
At this point, I’m not sure what to do…can they change the original odometer disclosure agreement? Or maybe change the agreement to 37,600/36?
if they did a new contract with a new date they could have adjusted the milage. The only prob is that the car might not qualify as “new” with that many miles, depending on brand. If that was the case, it might disqualify certain incentives from being applied and then ruin the whole deal.
no they should be putting the starting milage at your current milage to offset. That’s really up to their discretion. There’s no such thing as 37.6k program.
maybe, maybe not. I don’t know the details of your deal or what constitutes “new” with Honda. BMW demos with under 5k mi for example are considered “new” for the purpose of applying certain incentives.
I know you’ve heard it a thousand times but read everything, I have had that exact scenario attempted twice. Got a call that there was an error of some type but nothing would change at all but there was a clerical error so to make it easier they just had new paperwork. 1st time msrp was bumped $1500 and a point added to residual to make payment nearly identical. Other time a $500 military (although I served it was long ago and I do not qualify. Dealer had asked if I had a DD 214 and I said yes) was added in and they had taken $500 off my trade equity to offset and make numbers the same. Both times I refused until corrected.
Unfortunately, contracts are re-signed all the time. This isn’t a time to profit off of the dealer, or get free miles.
Just ask them to mail the new contract to your home and you will not be going to the dealership.
Do you plan to buy out the vehicle? If so, dealers have a discounted buy out. Tell them to put it in writing that they’ll discount it by that amount when you buy it out.
