Long story short. Happened across a velar special that looked appealing while searching for an x5 for my wife. After a couple emails I got this quote. I thought it was pretty good but figured why not ask for more discount. So I did. 10 min later the gm sends me an email saying this quote was a mistake, and the price is now ___. He raised the price well over 100 per month effectively.
Is this deal not possible on a demo velar in FL? Think hes backtracking because they found a different buyer or something? Now that I looked around at other dealers I feel like I should take this deal, but he isn’t even responding to my emails now. It was 100% not an issue of being rude or a pain in the #$$, it was actually the most pleasant dealing I’ve has outside of Jim’s Toyota dealer (I get a tundra, wife gets a range rover, howd this happen??)
The dealer can technically withdraw their offer at any time or sell it to whoever they choose. So if they said its no longer available you will probably have a hard time getting them to change their mind.
Mistakes do happen. Regardless a withdrawn deal is a withdrawn deal. Be grateful they took the time to tell you before you went to the dealership - most wouldn’t bother.
Agreed. 50% of appointments customers set with dealerships don’t show up - never to be heard from again. Dealerships are trash but customers are trash cans too.
True, probably the case. However I’d argue that I have the upper hand now in a way, month end and a written quote in hand, and a dozen land rover dealers within comfortable driving distance
Clearly…the upper hand comes from an 800 FICO, 2 vehicles in a 2 driver household already, and all the time in the world to wait for a great deal. You give dealers too much credit, in 2019 with the ease of communication, an educated consumer absolutely has the upper hand. Just ask all the Toyota dealers who were offering tundra limiteds for 600 a month 2 weeks ago. They rely on an impulsive uneducated buyer to keep the lights on.
They dont! Unless they are trying to hit a specific number. Dealers are on their way out in their current form… The future of car buying is concierge level service like was offered by Jim on the Toyota, and honcker-esque platforms. Ask blockbuster.
