Dealer didnt complete registration

hello,

I leased a Chevy at the end of Sep from a Chicago dealer and I reside in IN. When i signed the papers and got the car, i was given a temp registration valid for 3 months and the dealer mentioned they will complete all the paperwork and my plates will come in mail in a few weeks. when the plates didnt show after 2.5 months, i reached out to the sales agent and they asked me for an IN VIN inspection (which is a form that either the BMV or the cops will fill out for you) and a couple of utility bills and said that the registration paperwork was not started. i sent them these and by this time my temp plates expired. Both IN BMV and the dealer said they cant do anything and told me to wait to get the registration completed. now my vehicle is parked with an expired plate in the middle of the holiday season. have any of you gone through a similar situation? any thing that i can do from my end?

thanks!

Can’t your dealer issue you another set of IL temp tags for you to drive on/in?

apparently not. they can only do the one time 3 months thing

Yea unfortunately happens quite often with out of state dealers. Did they reach out to you before asking for those things and comms were just missed or did they drop the ball completely?

i would escalate this to the GM of the dealer.

i checked with them 2.5 months in. nothing from them. when i reached out is when they asked for these docs
