@littleviolette - is there a way for dealers & brokers to partially lock their calculator for advertised deals (i.e. lock the programs, selling price, but allow selecting MSDs, adding/removing rebates, sales tax selection, capping fees/taxes, etc)? Don’t recall if changing mileage properly adjusts RV, but custom quotes can always be requested, I guess.
Mileage is fine, it’s the term that many many people change
I’ve had folks try to change the doc fee like that’s a negotiable thing.
The best is when they change a 36-month lease to 48 months with the same residual. It doesn’t work that way…
If it penciled out better on a usable program, I’d be offering it.
At what point do we have to stop trying to accommodate dumb dumbs? How many dumb dumbs that change the term with the same RV actually end up buying a car? The Edmunds lease calc already exists for people that need their hands held
When hitting “share”, term, rate, and fees should lock.
Also need that “review” cleared up. That’s not a review. It’s nonsense.
That’s just dumb and ignorance on people’s end. I get a typo or a mistake, but if people don’t understand how leases work, they have no business messing with the calculators
You should know, however, that we do have a lot of people that have never leased before that do work with us, so I get why they would try to do that, and am understanding, but it certainly does create a lot of extra work to explain why you can’t just manipulate certain values until you’re happy.
All parameters are passed in the URL, so there could be another one - “locked” - with a corresponding check box on the calculator. This should disable some selections on the shared calculator. But, again, since everything is in the URL, one can just change any parameter directly in the URL, including “locked=false”. There should be other ways to lock, I guess.
I really think the people who are just changing random things in the calculator aren’t the same people who will modify URL parameters, I’m not too worried about that.
Why not make it foolproof? Lol
I like the idea of locking certain fields/params from anything anything shared. I suspect this covers the majority of cases. Prob not worth the effort to make it 100% fool proof.
If a “customer” is going in and changing all the numbers around to get the answer they like, then getting mad that their make believe deal isn’t be honored, the calculator isn’t the problem.
But M&V will tell you that eveyone is welcome on LH.
I wish…
“you said I could change the miles, so I changed the months too”
&dumbdumb=true;
“I adjusted numbers to my liking.”

I was riffing on the earlier comment. You seem to really want poor (literal and figurative) Jim Carey to earn more residuals.
