Deal Review: 2018 Nissan Leaf SV

Hey guys,

I know the Leaf isn’t the easiest lease to hack these days but let me know your thoughts on this one.

MSRP: $33,375
Selling price: $29,000
Rebates: $7850 and $1000 loyalty
MF: .00137
Residual: 37%
Pre tax payment: $327
Drive offs: $0

Is there any room left in the selling price or should I jump on this?

This is in AZ and is for a 36/12 also.

37% residual…ouch!

Cargurus price analysis shows a Great Price for the same MSRP vehicle as $30,978, so you’re 2 grand below that already. The 19’s are out already and there is still a lot of 2018 stock. How many dealers have you contacted?

Yeah, I have contacted the 3 dealers w some 2018 inventory. Most aren’t replying at all to my counter offers or they tell me to come in to see if the GSM will take the offer. I should note this deal also includes $400 in BS a dealer adds thrown in.

When you say dealers aren’t replying, I presume you mean to your emails. I would call the other dealerships and ask to speak to a sales manager or general sales manager. Explain that you’re not getting responses, which is bad look for their dealership, but that you wanted to give them one more chance to earn your business. Tell them you’re ready to put down a deposit via credit card right now and take delivery today/tomorrow if you can come to terms on the phone and s/he can confirm the details via email during the phone call. I think it’s valuable to tell them that you’ve test driven the vehicle already, that you really like the car, and that you’ll be making the purchase today or tomorrow.

You need to have a dollar amount in mind and be ready to follow through on the deal if the dealer accepts. We would all cry foul if a dealer bumped the price up after agreeing to something, so I think we should hold ourselves to the same standard - if you tell a dealer you will buy at a certain price/monthly, you should honor that if they can do it.

If you don’t get anywhere with the other dealers and the one with the best offer currently won’t move, see if they will offer free oil changes during the lease or dealer-installed accessories that you might want.

Oil changes on a Leaf ? Thats a first !

Ha!!! Shows how much I was paying attention to the type of vehicle. I know Leafs (Leaves?) are plug-ins…

I bet I can get them to throw in free oil changes for life:)

In regards to the other dealerships, one had the GM on his emails and I still didn’t get a reply after my final offer. I did get told all Leaf customers act the same

As good as it gets, man. Not sure why Nissan holds on to this car so tight.
What after sale rebates you get?

which dealer did u get this from? Actually was much lower than what i have got (mine was for 2019 though)

No post sale rebates in AZ but you get a special plate for carpool lane access and registration is only $10/ year vs about $500/year for a car w similar MSRP. You also can get a reduced rate from the big electric company here with proof of ownership. So that’s probably worth a couple hundred a year.

It’s from Midway Nissan. On my way to pick it up now. Yeah the 2018s money factor is quite a bit better than the 2019s right now and they want to move them so the selling price is probably lower.

Check with your car insurance company…in Ca, Farmers has discounts for evs.
And congrats on your new ev!

Interesting I will do that. Thanks man! It’s my 3rd Leaf.
