Deal Check Wrangler 4xe

Hi.

Looking for advice on a lease deal. I’m from Chicago area. Only national brokers available here for Jeep. (If I’m wrong let me know!)

Brokers either don’t have the specific vehicle I am looking for, or the total costs with all the fees and transportation costs factored in aren’t far off from the local dealer offer. Yes the MSRP discount on the brokers is good, but for the quotes I am getting the due at signing costs start to really chew into it.

Vehicle: Wrangler 4xe High Altitude MSRP $71400
Term: 12k/36 months
(Using a 1K TDM)
DAS: 754 (first month’s payment)
Monthly: 754
All taxes and fees rolled into monthly.

First lease for me, and I know there is a lot of chatter on these units. Looking for advice on a reasonable counter with the dealer. Would appreciate any input on what a target is on a “good deal”. Thanks in advance.

Post a calc for review on what you think might be a good target deal for this vehicle.

Generally, leasing if you’re in Chicago proper is a non-started due to the double taxation.

What % discount are your local dealers at?

I’m outside of Chicago proper so it’s a little better. I’m waiting on a detailed deal sheet from the dealer when they open tomorrow. I put in what I know using rate finder to get to the same deal price. In short, the dealers around here think the incentives are good enough and not touching the MSRP. Some have a higher mf and fees than others. First dealer came back with 899 a month for the same car.

I think my question is what’s a realistic discount off MSRP to come back at them with to get to the right monthly. -or- With no money down, whats a good monthly for this car in this market?

Like I said I’m new to this. The calculator is great and all, but what I really care about is what I am paying over three years of leasing (total cost) If I should be focused on something else, I’d sincerely appreciate the education cause I don’t want to get taken. I have zero plans on buying this car.

Right now the deal is 754 per month times 36 months for a $71400 MSRP vehicle.

There are brokers here in the 12-14% off before incentives range. If your local dealers aren’t coming off MSRP, you’re looking at saving a good $6000+ going with a broker, even after paying broker fees and shipping.

There is no way I would do this without some dealer discount. Can you PM me the VIN of this particular Jeep?

I agree. From the broker I got 12.5 % off for a trim I don’t want (no sky one touch ) or no leather and with all the fees and transportation cost, total cost of leasing was only a little over 3k where I am at now.

One dealer laughed at me when I said I was seeing 12.5% off these and didn’t counter with any MSRP reduction.

No brokers work in this area. Dealers aren’t going for 12-15% off MSRP either. I need to be in between 0 and 12.5% hence the question thanks for all.

I’m somewhat near Chicago and have used Gupton outside Nashville multiple times for 4xe. One way flight to Nashville, they will shuttle you from the airport. Morning flight and I was home around dinner time. You could also have it shipped since it’s coming from Nashville it should be overly expensive.

If I remember correctly during “4xe mania” Gupton was a commonly used dealer.

Yes but not just limited to 4xe. They are popular on quite a few different Jeep forums and groups. On my shuttles I rode with other folks flying in and none of them were buying 4xe but had factory orders from out of state. I haven’t been in a couple years but their lot was overflowing with sold orders at a time when most dealers had empty lots. Great people, small run dealership with huge amounts of online/volume orders.

I had a similar situation when I got my 4xe. I flew from Dallas to the Louisiana to pick up my vehicle. Another guy on the plane with me was picking up a car from the same dealer.

That should be a hard hard pass for a Wrangler HA.

Regardless of what their PT Barnum-loving marketing department tells you, that MSRP is a joke. These are cheap cars that are cheaply built and only keep the factory churning with cheap leases.

MSRP is a reality that, like inflation, I can’t wish out of existence. Cars are expensive. Appreciate all the other helpful comments and leads.

I live in the southwest suburbs of the Chicago area. I tired couple of dealers but end up using a broker and the car was shipped to me two months ago. Transaction was very smooth you just to be patient as the process is slow to do it out of state unless you are to fly and sign the contract in person.

It does not sound like you want to work too hard or be flexible to save several thousand dollars. I suggest you take the deal at MSRP and get the exact vehicle you want that is close to you. See what other discounts you can find, like TDM, then enjoy your new Jeep.

MSRP is the anchor we are all negotiating from. It’s basically the top input in the calculator. We can debate the value the of different car brands and models and what car is right for each other, but once settled on a make model and trim, the party we are negotiating with is starting from MSRP. I want lots of percent off like everyone else (minus the dealer.)

I am on local dealer number three and national broker number two. Different regional areas have different dynamics. Chicago is not a broker town. Many people here have more money than time, and the dealers know that.

The national brokers I spoke to don’t have access to the unit I was looking for. When I hit a wall is when I reached out to the forum for advice. Today I am reaching out to the out of state dealers recommended That’s great advice thank you.

If it goes well today, I’m willing to drive 7 hours to Tennessee as suggested. I’ll try harder.

This…. Unless you really need to go off road, why would anyone buy a Jeep POS.

Its a fun vehicle and a lot of people enjoy driving around with the top off/doors off, etc.
