Appreciate all the wisdom here, first time poster tho! Trying to lease a 2025 Prius Plug-In in order to get the $4500 lease cash and then buyout the lease immediately.
Have two offers.
First is from Oregon, which I would have drive back to California. I’m unclear why tax is capitalized if Californians only pay tax on payments. Also, confused by the adjusted cap cost is higher than the gross…
Second is from NorCal. A lot less detail and no mention of taxes.
The formats are totally different and I’m not clear if they’re competitive or if I’m being ripped off (on one or both). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I don’t think either of these are very competitive. Where is the discount off MSRP? I believe @Jrouleau426 was doing an extra $3k on top of the $4,500 discount recently.
Looks like you are getting a $3700 discount on the first deal and barely anything on the second. What are the $1300 in optional accessories in the first deal?
You will have to pay tax on the incentives (other than what’s applied to untaxed fees), so having some capitalized isn’t surprising. They are definitely calculating tax wrong though.
Thanks for validating my thought on the taxes. 1300 is a BS charge that they apply to anyone purchasing from out of state, which reduces the 3700 discount down to 2400.
Yes, 2025 Prius Plug-In SE. Also, finding bay area dealers will only go down to 1k-1.5k below msrp right now. Learning dealers in the south bay won’t sell below a several k markup tho!
What do find the best way to establish a target that the dealer can focus on for a lease? OTD price? Lease numbers (due at signing and monthly payment)? Something else?
Either monthly/das only or a fully broken down deal. Anything in between leaves room for ambiguity.
OTD price really only applies to a cash purchase. It doesn’t really translate to a lease despite people watching CarEdge videos that claim it somehow is a good idea to ask about.
The SE plug in has a national toyota lease deal. My friend got offered the SE $415 at signing $415 a month ..36/10k i told him thats nothing great of deal.
Seems like 99.3% of car buyers and leasees havent a clue how to make a deal that a professional lease hacker would know in 3 seconds they are being taken advantage of.
The way i scored my last 2 deals many years ago, well that must have been luck. I didnt do anything a professional lease hacker would do but i scored great deals
I always wonder if a professional like you went after the same lease as me, how much lower you could win them over. Would be very interesting to compare such figures.
