DEAL CHECK PLS: 2021 Toyota Sienna @ $450/mo

Hi Folks,

Confused on this one as the 2021 Sienna is newly designed (all hybrids) and newly priced (they are higher than most minivans).

We’ve been waiting for Toyota to unveil their new 2021 Sienna, specifically because we wanted an 8-passenger minivan that is AWD (previous generation AWD only came in a 7-seater).

Anyways, after going back and forth with the dealer on trying to find this very unique car (hard to find, especially as cars are still being shipped) we decided to lease as opposed to buying. But I had negotiated the buying price down so much, that it’s turning into a fantastic lease deal (I think).

2021 Toyota Seinna LE AWD (w/ Plus Package) – 8 passenger
MSRP = $40,155
INCENTIVES (Costco) = $3,318.69
SELLING PRICE = $36,836.31
FEES = $23
DOCS = $244

SIGN AND DRIVE = $450-460/mo, 39 months, 12k miles/year

Look alright to you all?

Looking to go pickup the car tomorrow, so wanted to get some feedback before doing so. Great Lakes Region! Thanks!!

That’s a steal for this car right now. Can you shed light on what is the Costco incentive you received?

Yes, so as the dealer stated, Costco Car Buying essentially offers the car at the dealer’s invoice price + $100 - $1500 on that invoice price. Because Costco hasn’t published deals for the 2021 Sienna, the dealer is offering invoice price. I went through the Costco New Car Buying Program, and that landed me here. :slight_smile:

Appreciate the reply!

I should add, I was unable to get a lease deal at < $400/mo on either the Pacifica (which doesn’t have an 8-passenger AWD) nor the Odyssey (which doesn’t have AWD at all). In combination with the 36 MPG on the hybrid Sienna, feels like I’m all set to sign tomorrow morning!

What’s the MF and residual? You sure this trim leases best? I say that because maybe the XLE leases better, don’t forget MSD’s. How many dealers have you talked to? Might be able to better than Costco

I’m not sure of MF and residual (going in today to get that, this was all over the phone).

In terms of the trim, I’m a bit stuck. The new 2021 Sienna comes in 8-passenger + AWD…but ONLY in the LE trim. And right now, they’re only making them LE with the Plus Package. So I wasn’t able to play around there.

MSDs? I may need education on that.

Multiple security deposits to buy the rate down

Ahh ok! I think that’s something I’ll have to negotiate with the finance manager on-site. I’ve stumbled upon this deal purely because even after they dropped the price, I didn’t want to buy. So they took the same discounted price for the lease deal. Almost like I’m working backwards now.

There should be no negotiation and no reason to wait until you get there. You just tell them “I want to do max MSDs” and that should be the end of the conversation.

I’d shop around too, see if anyone will make a deal at 10% off, even if it’s not the combo you want you can get the first dealer to match.

Yeah I called 2 other dealers all last week — neither of them could match, saying this dealer must be offering a special incentive or made a mistake.

Calling now asking about MSDs. Thanks!

Email them. Get everything in writing

Oh yeah, it’s ALL in writing (they’re stuck with me). I’ll pull the lawyer card if they say otherwise. It’s signed by the Manager too.

When a dealer says “We’re giving you the car $1000 below our invoice.” does that mean it’s less than what THEY paid Toyota for the car? My dealer messed up by ordering the wrong car for me (they were supposed to order the LE base, and ordered the LE PLUS which added $3k to the MSRP), and so as a way to sweeten the deal, dropped $1k. But I’m trying to understand if that’s serious, or that’s just a cue to use.

Good luck with that. A deal isn’t official until it’s signed and funded by the bank.

Dealers have multiple income streams tied to the vehicle, gross profit in the selling price is just one of them.

On a new model the first month of lease support I doubt you can get anymore off. This is a good price. If you like the van I would sign it

I would sign too. I am at $429 in TX, but really. Considering that you are in different region, that is a great deal

Yep, picked it up last night!! Will drop numbers soon.

@ishuttari Can you post your numbers, I am also in market for 2021 sienna.

I should have good numbers for siennas next month if I get any inventory, for those looking.
