Deal check on VW ID Buzz 1st Edition

Hi. First time doing this, have always bought cheap used cars and drove them until they stopped working. I called around a bunch of dealers and so far this is the best I’ve found. Is it reasonable? Thank you! The info on this website and forum has been great.

Vehicle: 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz 1st Edition (Energetic Orange)

MSRP: $62,480 (this seems lower than what I’ve seen at other dealers. I don’t get why. I’ve seen like 71k and 67k).

Rebate: –$7,500 (EV incentive applied upfront)

Adjusted Cap Cost (before trade-in): $54,980

Trade-In Allowance: $10,000 (2017 Subaru Forester Limited, ~68k mi)

Adjusted Cap Cost (after trade-in): $44,980

Fees:

  • Processing: $800
  • Non-tax fees: $1,176
  • Tax: $736.62

Total Out-the-Door: $47,692.62

Lease Terms (10,000 miles/year):

  • Money Factor (MF): 0.00248 (~5.95% APR)

  • Residuals:

    • 57% @ 24 months
    • 50% @ 36 months
  • Estimated Payments (with $2,000 down):

    • 24 months: ~$592–602/month
    • 36 months: ~$606–616/month

This is terrible considering $12,000 down between cash and equity.

The equity might be even more at a dealer that isn’t trying to rip you off.

Have you gotten other quotes for your Subaru? And is it totally paid off?

MSRP cannot be changed. Not sure if what your are seeing from other dealers might be “Market Value Selling Price?”

Hard to say what is reasonable for an ID.Buzz b/c the leases were insane(ly bad) on these when they first came out, and it hasn’t been discussed much here since.

Effective payment on the 24 month is $1102. Way better options out there for a grand a month.

You guys are right. I’ll do a little more looking around but maybe will look for a more practical/economical 2 year lease and then revisit the buzz.

It seems like these are really sitting around and its going to end up being a flop. I personally would wait on this vehicle at least until next month with the tax credit expiring they might try to go hard to move them ASAP. The small local VW dealer in my area (hansel VW) has like 10 on the ground and 13 more in transit…

While looking also go to Wiki here and learn how to lease with Lease 101 and using the calculator or putting your own spreadsheet together…you should know how to come up with your own target payment.
