Deal check on BMW ix and some questions

, ,

I’m in FL, looking at leasing an IX in California. Never leased before, let alone out of state

$100k Msrp

$975/7.5k

No DAS, down payment

Question: instead of being quantified in terms of monthly payments, etc, why aren’t leases described as the total cost of the lease? Would it be easier to say “$100k msrp, 36/7.5k to total $36k for term”? It’s so confusing with the different down payments, etc.

Another question: are there certain dealership chains that no brokers deal with? Or does every broker have their own network and you just need to find one that covers the dealership you’re looking at?

Thanks for any help

What’s that shipping bill look like?

Nearly $3k

Depending on what you’re looking for we could probably do better and with a much lower shipping bill if any. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s what I’m looking for that’s the problem. Not too many cars with DH and DAPP, let alone with other options

Yup, very rare. You basically have to shop nationwide to find that at this point.

With that determined, how does the lease deal sound to you now?

Have you talked to the CA dealer? And they are willing to sell/lease you the vehicle in FL? From your numbers, looks like they are entertaining the deal… very surprising, coast-to-coast on an iX

does it cost them anything if I’m paying for shipping anyway?

Cost is just one factor. The big risk for dealerships in remote deals are fraud and identity theft. Once that car gets on a transporter, it’s gone.

Sometimes there are complications figuring out taxes and/or registration. They’ll try to fix things ASAP but it won’t be a priority and you may have some legwork to do on your part.

I don’t think CA issues temp tags to out-of-state cars…, not sure about this. Just anecdotally on LH of ppl buying from CA and waiting for permanent tags from their home state. And being unable to drive since they have neither temp or permanent tags.

Oh god, that’s not good. So glad you brought that to attention thanks

Not saying it’s impossible or too prohibitive. Just need to be aware of possible complications and go into it eyes wide open. And if the deal is worth it.

Shipping coast-to-coast may also take 7+ days.

Are DH/DHP really a must have? It’s an iX… not a M or M-lite car

According to redditors and ix fanboys, yes. I don’t want to regret not having it down the road (ha ha)

Yes. Nearly every iX inquiry that comes in now is asking for DHP and it’s kind of a hard feature to get. It’s either going to cost you or you need to do without. And even the second one is getting harder to do with inventory levels dwindling daily.

Can you get them a loaner m60/m70 for close to 975 anywhere in the South? M lites already have an adaptive suspension, right?

Let me rinse my mouth and circle back to your amigo @IAC_Scott if he has any leads on courtesy vehicles.

Hey, @hellokitty! I have one.

We did have a new iX with DHP inbound but it may be subject to April programs if it doesn’t arrive on campus before EOM.

On that note, BMW hasn’t really messed with iX programs this year so it’s probably going to be the same as if it was contracted in March.

Heard thru Grapevine that Sewage… uhhm… Sewell has one with DHP and only 7k mi. 103 sticker.

EDIT: they actually got 3, another one with 7k and one with 10k mi.

Murray in UT has about a dozen.
