I’ve been doing some of my searches on chevrolet dot com. Mainly trying to find EV lease deals so generally Equinox EV or Blazer EV that come up. I enter my zipcode for the searches, and change radius of search to 500 miles. Under zipcode and distance fields on the left, I highlight lease instead of default cash. Then I sort by price lowest to highest.
I know the lowest price thing is not going to actually be that lease price per month. When I click on ‘view details’ for the car I’m interested in, the “Buy Your Way” pop-up fine print just says “Vehicle pricing will be adjusted to include taxes, fees and charges.” So again, I know there will be more fees than what is listed, and that disclaimer is pretty vague.
On the next page, on the right next to the lease cost I hit edit, and play with the term and down payment. Flexible on both but generally choosing zero down and 24k miles or 36k miles. I’m not bothering to enter the Costco discount because the numbers then go away and it just says “contact dealer”. I do have the Costco Exec membership so I know 1250 will come off for that, and I have a GM friends discount Authorization number but don’t know how much that will be so that isn’t factored in either.
I then choose “Apply” at the bottom. Above the pic of the car is a print icon, which give a 12 page lease summary estimate - 1st 2 pages have the numbers, then the rest is info on the car itself. Chevy site ultimately says $136/mo. (no Costco discount or GM friends discount factored in).
I have a PDF attached of the car I was looking at today. The dealer’s website says the $10,000 off the MSRP is “Dude Discount - Dude discount applies to everyone!” The other -$4250 just says lease cash allowance - I’m assuming the -$3000 is due to it being a courtesy car, and the other -$1250 is probably the Chevy incremental CCR program.
I’ve tried punching this in to the leasehkr calculator - with entering the VIN there are still a lot of holes to fill in, but for what I can pull off that lease summary estimate and plugging in to the calculator, my MI 6% sales tax, and clicking the Costco discount box and the one-pay option, the calculator comes out with an equivalent monthly payment of $127/mo. The link to my calculation is

SO - I call the dealer. He says they technically have the car, but someone put a deposit down on it, that they have 2 more hours before the close to finish up the deal, otherwise it will be up for grabs again. They will do leases with out of state customers.
BUT - he says that Chevy dot com and ads in general don’t factor in a lot of fees, and it will always be much more than what you think. He said this gentleman was hesitating on wrapping things up because he was walking in with numbers similar to me, but the best the dealer could do was $249/mo with $2500 down. Basically that if this man didn’t go forward, $250/mo for $2500 down was the best I would get.
So is the Chevy site crap/unreliable for the numbers they give? Am I missing a ton of things to be plugged into the calculator? I just have the chevy site numbers, nothing from the dealer for whatever else they might be adding. Chevy quoting $136/mo zero down is a huge jump to dealer saying $250/mo with $2500 down.
