Deal check my brokered BMW 330i lease from 2022 prior to turning in/maybe buying (CA)

Hi folks,

I got this lease in Feb 2022 when prices were crazy but I was desperate for a car. Noticed the rent charge seemed high (800 plus credit) and hoping someone could give me their opinion on the overall lease at the time. Please be gentle, I’m really stressed about finding a car, dealing with turning this in as a first timer, and nervous about doing this again w a new baby. Any advice appreciated.

I need to get the car evaluated and I’m sure I’ll have to buy some used tires to return since the runflats ended up sucking and wearing down really quickly. Also was thinking about just buying the car because I’m short on time but the total looked like it would be about $51k when all said and done, which seemed over the top. Mazda CX 50 or Ford Mach E seem decent going forward if not this one. Thanks everyone!

$700 was always too much for a 330i, but that’s almost behind you.

The lease-end inspection and return process is here, along with guidelines for what’s chargeable and what isn’t.

Please don’t do this.

You could get a CPO version of the same car for ~$20k less.

You didn’t read the contract. Residual is only about $27K. OP may have some equity if those CPO prices are reasonable.Might be worth buying if it is in good shape and has low miles. Flip it before warranty expires.

Those were the two lowest-mileage examples I could find.

I didn’t check the RV on the contract, I relied on what the poster supplied.

It would be hard to get that up to $51k, unless it’s 80,000 miles over and all the glass is missing.

Click on Marketplace — that should take some of the stress out.

For starters
Gas: Tucson/Sportage PHEV or Volvo XC60 T8+

EV:
Honda prologue or Chevy equinox

Thank you for sharing this insight, much appreciated.

Thanks for posting those cars. I was looking at the $27k residual plus what I’ve paid thus far and coming up with that number. Appreciate you taking the time to share the input.

Terrific, thank you!

Thanks again for posting this info. Nice to see the lease return guidelines.

It has 20K miles now, maybe 21 when I’m due to turn it back in. I did have one accident, which was basically a 3 mph scrape on a panel in a terribly narrow SF parking garage rife with other car marks and shredded bumper pads on the wall…lol. Guess I wasn’t the only one. Insurance paid about 5k for bodywork, but in considering keeping the car at least i know what happened and it was nothing affecting the drivability. Love your idea in that even if I break even or am down a little bit in the end, I could still have time to unload it before the warranty is up in a year. That time is extremely VALUABLE atm. Thanks again!

Accident on carfax will tank this later

Okay, thanks for the heads up.

Does anyone have a great BMW dealer or broker they’d recommend? Open to many makes, actually. One person posted about the prologue, equinox, Volvo, etc.
Saw BMW of Murrieta and Dave look pretty solid.
I’m in NorCal, and it’d be a lot easier to get something here. Open to many cars atp!
