Hoping to get thoughts on this or if I’m being unreasonable. Hoping to lease in Nebraska, one of my dream cars, a fully loaded Mini Countryman JCW with the packages etc, that I “built” from the MiniUSA site. I would ideally be comfortable paying under $700 monthly for this including taxes. There is supposedly a Black Friday “deal” going on, but seems like they are giving me a super high rate. Based on this summary do you think it’s feasible to get this under 700 with zero down via negotiation? I was quite surprised to see a monthly payment in the 800s without even including the tax—- it feels like they’re trying to get me with like a 10% rate. I understand they have to make money too, so is my goal even a reasonable one, or am I way out of line with this. Thanks for the help and happy holidays
Can you fill out a calculator?
They are either marking up the selling price, bumping the money factor or a little of both. There is no such thing as “Black Friday deals”.
The only way you will reach your $700/mo target with only your first payment due at signing, is to negotiate a dealer discount of 6.25% off MSRP at base rate MF and zero add-ons (without conquest, loyalty or military.)
They’re giving you zero discount.
Probably marking up the MF.
And the doc fee is high.
So you’re over MSRP here, which means there’s zero urgency to act.
And please don’t accept a payment amount because it’s comfortable.
First the deal has to make sense.
Why would anyone pay $700 per month to drive a MINI?
I used to ask myself why anyone would buy one of these cars until I actually got in and drove one. Curious, have you driven a top trim model? They’re nice
Agreed. Whether I actually communicated my questions well is questionable, but this is kind of what I was asking— is a 5% off MSRP discount, and base rate MF something that is reasonable to negotiate, or is that unrealistic delusional thinking?
I drive one. I understand your point, but MINI isn’t $700/month lease. I pay $430/month and I think it’s high. ($0 upfront, all included in the lease payment, 9% tax, maximum MSDs)
There isn’t a ton of data on these cars here, most likely because the lease programs aren’t great.
Stabbing around through old posts I see one person claiming to have been offered 12.49% discount, and another person stating that they’d noted deals in the 13% off range, pre-incentive. Neither of these were this month, and they may be on different trims.
I don’t know this brand at all, so I can’t comment on how realistic or common these are.
You might start by working out 11% dealer discount and base MF, minus all incentives, post your best attempt at the LH calculator (copy the link and paste it in this thread) and then ask for feedback on your calculations to make sure you got it right.
You may have to start fresh with another dealer by making an unsolicited offer once you’ve determined what that should be.
Yes as is the calculator uses a way smaller MF than they are giving. I just don’t have a great gauge as to how far below MSRP to aim for in negotiations.
The inputs to the calculator are just as important (if not more so) than the final output.
It’s not at all clear to me what, if any, discount off of MSRP the dealer is offering or what discount you would need to hit your target effectively monthly.
It’s not a discussion of good cars and bad cars. It’s just horribly overpriced as a lease.
You’re better off buying it if that’s the only car you want.
Realistically you need more like a 10% discount to get there.
Do you want to custom order one of these? I have an allocation available.
Yes I have a custom build through miniUSA, but only because the JCW, iconic trim was not available. So I’m open to anything.
Gotcha, part of my question revolves around this. Is a 10% off MSRP something that happens, or is that a way out of line, unrealistic request on my part.
I think it’s way out of the realm of realistic, to be honest. I asked my dealership with the allocation, and they came back at 4% off.
Ok that is helpful. Well I would definitely be interested in more information about this car if you don’t mind!
It’s a custom order, exactly as you’d want it.

It’s fine to have been a noob at one point. But you’ve found this website and you can easily look through Signed Deals & Tips to see what kind of deals people are getting. If you don’t believe me, see for yourself. No one is paying what you’re proposing to be paying. You can’t hide behind being a noob any more.
Makes no sense to drive your dream car while paying through the nose for the right to chuck the keys back in exactly three years … while always minding the odometer. Or to be paying one-time fees such as shipping on absurdly priced leases every 3 years. Own it for 4-5 years, enjoy it, drive it as much as you want, you’ll still come out way ahead of the annualized cost of consecutive leases.
