Deal Check: Kia EV9 Land Northeast

, , , ,

Looking for a deal check on this Kia EV9 Land. Think I got something pretty good here but this is first time doing this and wanted to see what people with more experience think.

Also confused because taxes should be based on NY State taxes- when I sent this quote to another dealer they said that taxes are not included upfront in this quote despite me telling them to include it?

Discount is too low and the tax hasn’t been properly done by the dealer for a NY registration address.

Thanks, frustrating because they definitely said they “included everything”… when you say discount is too low how much more do you think I can ask for.

UPDATE: They still are insisting that this quote includes all the taxes and fees… no idea how to approach this or if I should be insisting they did it wrong…?

I am not an expert but i would recommended looking at what current brokers are offering and using that for your threshold of negotiation; in exchange you can pay a broker fee and have them do it for a more painless/quick transaction. There are plenty of brokers on the website with great reviews. hope that helps!

Oddly, their numbers come out right for if they were taxed correctly

What’s weird is the taxes they have itemized at $845 should be more like $2065.

It may be that the taxes are correct but their itemized breakdown is wrong.

As for discount, i would target 8-10% off msrp

Would you advise telling them again that the tax numbers don’t look right? I would have to travel ~5 hours to get to the dealer and wouldn’t want to get screwed… I also feel weird telling them that the price seems too low…

The monthly is correct for the correct taxes, so it probably is more of an artifact of the way their deal sheet generates. Ask them to send the lease contract ahead of time to review and make sure it has the correct taxes.

Thank you. I’m getting them to send me the lease contract hopefully soon, but they’ve confirmed multiple times that taxes etc are correct.

I was able to get this from them. Not exactly sure what the -$2775 down payment means though…

Sales tax looks a lot more correct on that one than in the earlier sheets.

The -2775 is $2775 of the $8300 rebate being applied to your due at signing amount to cover taxes and registration.

Thanks, so it appears I’m getting 8.15% off MSRP before the $8300 rebates (67164 from 73120)? This is the best I’ve been able to get. Not sure if will able to do better than this :man_shrugging:

You’re getting about 6% off MSRP before $9800 in rebates. They just have the $1500 vin specific rolled into the selling price.

Is it the best deal ever on one of these? No. It’s not horrible though.

Did they decrease their discount for the sin of asking for a breakdown? It was 4600 in the original sheet but now 44xx.

This is an average deal. Not worth traveling for hours.

Not sure. I honestly contacted many dealers in the general region and none that I spoke to were willing to even come close to matching this… was getting many saying they wouldn’t do more than ~4% off MSRP and those were often without the extra $1500 VIN specific discount that I’m getting on this one.

If this deal is good enough to make you happy, then it is a good deal for you. Enjoy your new ride & safe trip home!

Your NY sales tax is computed as follows…

8.625% x (24 x 650.97 + 8300.00) = 2063.38
