DEAL CHECK Is it possible to know if this is a good deal without the breakdown? (Jeep)

,

I am looking to lease a Jeep Wrangler- I will not be buying at the end of the lease. We were at 2 different dealerships and they are within a few thousand as far as msrp. One is $47,000 36 month 10k for $354.00 month with $5700 down- (3000.00 down+ 1st payment, taxes and fees paid without rolling in) The other is 50,000 msrp one possible 380.00 10k 24 months or 36 months $360.00. They are also taking my 2011 4Runner SR5 127,000 miles as a trade they are giving me 12k. There are a few things wrong with it so I will not be selling to a private party. Do I need the breakdown to know if this is a decent deal? I hate putting down money on a lease. There is an option to go look at a 2012 4Runner with 64k miles for 20k. I need to check the rust underneath so I would need to go there.

Yes you need the breakdown, especially since there’s a trade involved.

More importantly, you should have a very specific number targeted before you even start shopping. MSRP differences are minor refinements, but you need to have a very good idea about the market value of the target vehicle, as well as a solid handle on what your current vehicle is worth.

You’re essentially doing this backwards, which is why you’re asking a reverse engineering question about dealer quotes.

This is horrible. Don’t take this deal.

Unless your credit is bad you don’t need to put $ down on a lease…dealers include it so they can show you a lower payment. Go to Wiki here and learn how to put a lease together using the LH calc. Or find and hire a broker.

Workout a target deal. Compare this to your target deal. That will answer if this is a good deal without knowing the breakdown.

Step 1 is always to work out a target deal. Everything else is a waste of time.

Look like you were getting hosed on the initial offer with the trade-in. Do seperate transactions. Sell your 4Runner to Carmax, Driveway, or Carvana.

Then lease the Wrangler knowing your targeted discount with rebates you qualify for. Or see a broker in your area like @AutoNinjas to find a deal for you.
