Deal check in Atlanta Ioniq 9 Calligraphy Lease

Please see attachment. Is this rebate too low? Prefer a teal interior and white or gray exterior.
The protection package is being negotiated down for sure but what else looks wrong or way higher to you experts?

Problem:

  1. You are putting $29,000 down on a lease.
  2. Discount of $1950-$2250 is pretty solid on these (calligraphy trim) at least in CA.
  3. You don’t need the protection package.
  4. Doc fee (idk your region) is super high. Get more discount to make up for it.
  5. Ask what the MF is — def looks like they marked it up.
  6. Start from scratch - you have the gov fees, dealer fees, etc. Become a super supporter and use the calculator to see what your target payment should be.
  7. $29K down, I know I already said it, but Jesus.

Putting $29k down on a lease is an absolutely awful idea.

I just ran #s using your sheet. This deal sucks, but even with this structure at buy rate your payment would be $30.

This is still horrible. Aim for this if you’re not a strong negotiator. This is still $2K off with a ridiculous doc fee (per CA standards lol).

$0 due at signing
$770/pm
And a check for you for $22,820, assuming that their offer on your trade is on par with Carmax, Carvana, etc.

Or hire a broker that serves your region. You need it.

With that absurd doc fee, the dealer discount here is less than $1,000.

Of course it’s possible that they’re over-allowing for your trade, but given the absurdly low discount it’s more likely that you’ve been IDd as a low-information shopper and they’re trying to exploit that and also steal your current car.

Get 5+ offers to compare. It’ll take you 15 minutes.

You guys are amazing. Thanks for the responses. We may walk away from the deal given the insights

There is no ‘may’…absolutely walk away and hit the Wiki here on this site to learn how lease and calculate your own payment…you will learn the variables and negotiables.

We’re glad you stopped to ask.

If you don’t have the time or energy to get to the other side of the learning curve, there’s a commercial forum here called Marketplace that’s worth checking out.

Agree totally! The “may” part was that I may give the dealer a chance to redo the deal terms to be more inline with the suggestions but at this point they are definitely lower in my priority…

Whatever you do, don’t put $29K down on the lease. Only put down taxes and fees at the most. You can ask the dealer to cut you a check for the difference. What is your trade, and have you shopped it around?
