Deal check, dual motor Polestar 3

Hello everyone!

I am coming to the end of my Equinox EV lease in less than 2 weeks. I have a backup but ideally I’ll have another car by lease end. I have pretty much decided I’m getting an EV.

After looking at options I set my mind on getting a demo/loaner Polestar 3 or 4. Unfortunately I think I’m a bit late, I called every dealer within a 10 hour drive and none had what I was looking for.

One of the dealers offered what looks like a pretty good deal even if it’s not exactly what I’m looking for. I’d love some opinions.

Polestar 3 Pilot Dual Motor, new

78k msrp

27/10k

585/mo with first month down, only rebate is conquest

Assuming that includes some TT&L and Alabama taxes the monthly payment only, I think that’s about a 7% MSRP reduction which is basically on par with what the brokers are offering here. So probably about as good as you’re going to get given the limited inventory.

Is there a Polestar space near you / Volvo dealer that services Polestars? Are you happy with the equipment on that model? I think it doesn’t have Plus or Napa for that price?

I really liked the Polestar 3 interior, but ultimately went with the Kia EV9 instead. About the same payment ($570 for top of the line) but Kia’s not going out of business, the software is mature, it charges a lot faster, and it just has a lot of features and space. Coming from my 2024 BMW iX50, I don’t feel like I’m missing out on much.

Most buyers shopping Polestar aren’t shopping an EV9.

This is indeed the time to get a Polestar if you’re set on it. I imagine the biggest risk is if you get a lemon since you’ll likely be put through the wringer trying to get service and eventually a buyback. That, and if you ever need service of any kind, expect it to be a long PITA and don’t count on a loaner while it’s in the shop (if you can find one that will service it).

I’m expecting deals to improve significantly in the next few months. I too was dazzled by talk of $20k deals, but then I saw a P3 YouTube review from February that said the discounts at that time were also $20k ($24 in Colorado), so not much had really changed. Every p3 and p4 on the lot should/will get demo discount, the problem is too many lemmings buy them before they arrive.

There will be bigger deals to be had for sure. But if there is a specific build you want, that’s the sort of thing you should do now since there will be no new inventory after this latest round that arrives in August. So sure, come December, the deals will be huge… but you’ll be picking from the dwindling number of existing builds only.

Thanks everyone! I am not sure how to quote each message so I will just respond in order.

It does include all fees and taxes. My calculations had it just a touch better than what I found from brokers overall. Unfortunately there is not a service point near me, the closest one is about 2 hours away. That isn’t super concerning to me but it’s definitely something to consider. I am not set on the polestar but I really like what I have seen.

The lemon concern is actually one reason why I wanted a demo that already had a handful of miles but alas. I know there’s some risk but I think it’s something I am willing to take if the deal is good enough.

I also expect deals to improve but unfortunately my car gets returned in less than 2 weeks regardless of if I get a new one. I could probably make it into the first week of August without a new one but the inventory/deals could easily be worse at that time.
