Deal Check: CX-90 PHEV Premium Plus

Located in Louisiana. Best deal I’ve found near me on a 70 or 90, but when I put their numbers into the calculator the monthly is way lower. Am I missing something or are they trying to just screw me? They are saying $600/month for these exact numbers, I confirmed I had all the numbers right by texting this to them, and they told me that there are lots of things that go into how a lease is calculated and if I come in they will show me on their system.

also curious about the MF used here. They said Mazda won’t go any lower than this, but I had another dealer quote me a .00153 and seen deals here/reddit lower than even that too. Plus recommendations to ask for buy rate. Does RV have anything to do with what MF you can get? I definitely qualify for whatever is best 810 credit score on experian (which is what Mazda uses).

Last bit to add for context is they say they are under cost on this sale price which I think is a lie because plenty of places are saying 8% off.

I would probably take this deal at the calculator’s final price, unless convinced otherwise. Thanks in advance!

You don’t ask for buy rate. You determine what buy rate is before ever speaking to a dealer and use that to establish your target deal.

Youre missing a bunch of fees at bare minimum

Did they give you an offer sheet you’re trying to replicate or was this all via phone?

Taking a step back, what was your target deal based on your research of attainable discount + MF, RV, and incentives available?

Also: these net better at 24 months, and I’d apply MSDs.

You appear to be using the 24 month residual (67%), however your calculator is configured for 36 months (RV = 58%). Which are you intending / did they quote you? Buy rate should be .00175.

Acq fee is 650, and you don’t have any GOV fees in your calc.

These are the exact numbers they gave me and I even asked if there were other fees because it felt off to me too. Also I told them 24 months and they sent me this back with this residual. Seems like they either don’t know what they are doing or are lying to me. Thank you

That’s what I came up with and have been offering. I’ve had dealers come back in the 900s. This one from my post is the closest at $600 on their sheet, but it is missing some info so idk exactly how they got there.

That’s what I figured. Thank you again for responding to my posts and helping me learn

I recommend going back to the drawing board. You should be aiming for at least 6% or 6.5% off, assuming a dealer with low fees.

I recommend structuring your offer with only 1st payment down (no reason to put big sums of money down on a lease besides MSDs). Re: MSDs: have you considered them ?

Here is what a target offer would look like with 6.5% off and MSDs. Leasehackr Calculator - Hack your next lease | Leasehackr

Otherwise, hire a broker. I think @AutoNinjas operates Mazda in the south. They could def beat this offer, even with their fee + shipping.

I am considering MSDs. I will check out auto ninjas. Thank you!

Look at the pre-negotiated deals out of Colorado for an idea of what you could be paying. You don’t get the extra CO EV tax rebate, but this should give you a good idea of what is possible.

Currently being offered the below from a different dealer. Prolly signing Monday or Tuesday.

Only 6.5% off MSRP on a Mazda CX70/90 ?

I’d push for 12% off and settle at 10% off. That’s what they usually go for here in the northeast .

I said at least. Keep in mind, some NE dealers show 10 or more % off, but have doc fees near $1k and gov fees over inflated, so it nets out.

Edit: Sorry, thought you were replying to me, but point still stands re: discount not the only thing given wildly different fee structures.

I’m under the strong impression that NE Mazda dealers historically give MUCH more of a discount vs. anywhere else in the nation.

OP would need to do the math to determine if it might be worth it to ship.

His dealer doc fees down in LA are almost $500.

NY doc fees are $175 and NJ dealers usually have them around $400-$500 so that point about fees being wildly different are moot.

I don’t have a Mazda nor have I ever shopped one, but I feel like there’s much more meat on the bone for OP even if he’s in the Deep South.

6.5% off to 10% is like a $2K difference. He should atleast try to get another $1K off .

If he can find one at 10-12% with such low fees, by all means… Won’t get an argument out of me lol. Would be a great price.

Though, no MSDs in NY (should be want to leverage them).

I think the most important part is that he’s understanding how to structure a lease now and what levers he can move to make it cheaper.

That’s the most important part. When someone comes on here and learns that, they are forever ahead of any dealer in the leasing game.

You might want to consider paying the approximately $1K taxes upfront because you are paying interest on the taxes.

It probably is worth it to ship, because this dealer would be acquiring this vehicle for me and they said it’s kind of far. Wife wants black only if a 70, blue is fine on the 90 so I have limited availability on what I can even make an offer on. 6.5% is 3% better than any other offer I’ve gotten. But I’ll start looking into the NE dealers and shipping too
