Deal check: buy or lease Lexus?

2021 Lexus UX 250H
~$37,000 MSRP + $2K markup (vs. $4-5K at other dealers)

LEASE:
36 months
10,000 miles
w/ MSD
$6,000 down
= $400/month

BUY:
1.99% APR through Lexus

Corporate promo is obviously not being honored by any dealerships but FYR:

Is this a good deal considering current market conditions? Would you buy or lease?

Do you mind driving a Corolla engine everyday?

Your calculator posted is not for $400/mo… it’s for $483/mo

What is the actual deal we’re talking about here?

maybe I already do :skull:

removed it, sorry. couldn’t get it to spit out the right data.

So what is the actual deal we’re discussing? $400/mo with $6k das?

Have you checked other places where you could get lower financing?

Terrible. Might as well buy it

$2000 over MSRP, you should consider casting a much wider net. Even if it means going out of state.

So $2000 lease cash or 0% interest. Right?

Crazy, get something else. I would not pay over sticker for a Corolla. You are paying $580 a month for a luxury put put

Find someone who will honor the deal or get an RDX, more comfortable, and cheaper

They actually beat the 3 local credit unions, which offered me the lowest possible rate.

You’re right, I should just buy the car outright. I’m new to this and realized down payments are non-refundable!

Believe me, I called every dealership that has this car (including the non-hybrid version, which I prefer) within 500 miles. They won’t budget on the $5K markup. Not exclusive to Lexus but this was the best deal around. Pre-shortage, not a deal I’d be interested in.

Yeah & read up on Lease 101 articles.

If you really NEED a car & your budget is around $400-500, look for marketplace deals on Mazda CX-5.

But that’s if you actually NEED one, otherwise wait it out.

No dealership is offering manufacturer deals right now. Each rep had a good laugh when I mentioned it ha!

They are in my area although this was around August 10. I visited one Lexus dealer and did not really like the car I thought I would (ES 350) and went immediately to the Honda dealership and got something entirely different under one of their promotions (actually better than the national promotion but through one of the better credit unions

Holy crap, this is horrendous.

I know this is a very different market, but late last year I leased one for 36 months / 12k miles for $386/mo and $0 drive off (first month free). I since flipped it to Carvana. There is no way I would want to pay anywhere even remotely close to your deal (essentially $6500 more) for this car.

Also, make sure you really like it. It’s really tight, storage wise. Might want to hold out for the new NX hybrid.

At almost $600 month for 36, there’s probably better options and better vehicles available.

It is a terrible deal.

$2k markup on a UX? Are you married to this car? Do you need a car now?

I would strongly suggest checking out broker deals in the Marketplace section for better deals.
