I remember the days people were leasing these things at under $250 a month.

The I3 is nice, but I wouldn’t pay $450/month for one. There’s better value in other electric cars if you wanted to go electric. I may be wrong, but I don’t think it even has IDrive 7?

Seems very steep. Does this include loyalty? Loyalty was $3k for a while and that makes a big difference on the i3.

Yes, loyalty plus college grad.

You are right, it has iDrive 6 – but includes wireless Carplay.

If there’s a better value rwd electric from a luxury brand, I’m not aware of it. I realize I could drive a Chevy Bolt for $150 a month, but 1) I don’t need 250 miles range and therefore see it counterproductive environmentally to buy more battery than I need, and 2) appreciate the interior quality and unique engineering of the i3.

Currently in a 17 i3 BEV (CPO purchase). Love the car but am eager to get out of it with positive equity right now due to used car prices being so high. With a slew of newer EVs coming out this year, I think the book value of the i3 is artificially high and will tank once the chip shortage is over. If I’m going to stay in an i3, leasing seemed like a smarter bet.

I knew I wasn’t going to set a record with this deal but was just curious if 3-5% discount was reasonable in this market, on this car.

If you make it a class of one, then yes its the best😜

This is coming from someone who has had half a dozen BMW i3 over the years and really loved them, but this car is not a $450 a month car. The only reason it would be worth it compared to its competition is if you just subjectively want this particular car.

Like for like with the same type of driving, the bolt will absolutely crush the i3. It is not even close. Anecdotally I would say it is close to double the range for the same type of driving (as I have a Bolt now).

That is some thing absolutely I am in agreement on. There’s nothing out there like the i3. It has a very polarizing design which is always something I admired.:+1:

Yeah…I had a 2017 that was $140 something😊

Yes, I should have been more clear. This car has a specific set of characteristics that value, and cost is not the highest ranked factor.

A better question would have been, ā€œWhat kind of discount should I expect on a well optioned 2021 BMW i3?ā€

Dollar per smile, my $10k, 320 ft lb, Chevy Spark EV couldn’t be beat, torque steer for days. But alas, I needed DAS for Atlanta traffic and have fallen hard for the i3.

Then honestly, there is your answer.:heavy_check_mark:

Calling BMW brokers… @Bostoncarconcierge any ideas?

Just as a data point, I have a cheaper ($47k MSRP) i3 negotiated for $219/month including 8% tax and only MSDs due at signing. I would be eligible for a $1.5k tax credit also, making it effectively $156.50/month. I do have $1k OL code and $3k loyalty helping me get down to this number and still trying to decide between this i3 and a 330e so the deal is not yet signed…

For my edification, what percentage discount from MSRP does that come out to?

My numbers also include sales tax, which in GA is 7% levied on the full value, even on a lease.

I’m not as familiar with MSDs, but generally figure if the time-value of that money wasn’t greater than the price, the bank (BMW FS) wouldn’t be making the offer.

This is no longer the case as of 2018. It’s now off the total of base lease payments. https://dor.georgia.gov/tavt-calculation-new-leased-vehicles-hb-340-2017-0

Oh, good to know. This is my first lease since then.

Thanks.

Isn’t the Model 3 Rwd? You can purchase one and probably not lose $16k. I doubt i3 feels more ā€œluxuryā€ than a Tesla.

What kind of deals are folks getting on model 3 leases?
