Deal Check 23 S500 Mercedes

Fellow hackers, need to decide on this before end of the month. I am considering rolling the 1st month payment and tax, title, fees into price to lower drive off.

2023 Mercedes S500 / 19 miles

24 month term

10k miles per year

.00180 MF

$125,945 MSRP

$92,000 Selling Price

$6,578 Total down including 1st payment and TTF

$1,120.63 plus tax

$1,214.20 includes 8.35% sales tax on monthly payment

How much of the $6,578 DAS is a cap reduction? The correct answer should be $0

So effectively $1400+ on a 2023 S500. This seems pretty terrible.

PLUS $1500 in add-ons on top of a $700 doc fee. Run, don’t walk.

I think that MF is buy rate though. You can probably get the add-ons removed, but either the dealer takes a bigger hit, or you pick a different car (unless there’s incentives I’m aware of.)

If you want a Mercedes S-class, you gotta pay for it. That’s why I went for the inbred cousin, the EQS instead

It’s a 2023 S500 in July of 2024. This is not a good deal, not by a long shot.
I leased a 2023 S580 with a $143k sticker back in February for just about the same price.

Did you get a bigger discount then? Any incentives back then?

The only way I see this deal getting cheaper is with a cheaper dealer discount. Which you can go for, @calirida, tell them the number you need or you gotta bail.

Same incentives as there are now, $10k for the S580 and $5k for the S500. +$500 with Amex. Would help if OP built a calculator with the relevant info to properly assess. From the outset, does not look good. Longer term might make it look better. Also why on earth would anyone need the Appearance Protection Package on a 24 month term? That and Recovr gotta go.

Yeah it’s weird, fleet/Amex on a S500 is like half of what it is on S580. Along with the lack of other trunk money, and the S500 net price is almost the same as a S580. I wonder if Mercedes knows eventually livery services will take on any S500 once it gets cheap enough on a front-end discount from the dealers. So corporate can hold off handing out big incentives.

Anyway @calirida , you should keep shopping, or look to another large saloon car like a 740i or A8.

Total dud. The incentive disparity has been this way for a while now. And if you check out the new 2024 inventory out there, there are easily 10x more S580’s on the lots vs the S500’s.

As I went further in detail withe the finance manager the fees started to pop up. After asking for clarification on some items I started to feel him trying to rush` this through and that’s when I asked for some itemization and they sent me this photo.

Yes, the MF was at buy rate .00180 was what was disclosed on the terms. EQS has some great deals for a great car.

I am going to press them on these terms. If the deal doesn’t work then next option is to put the same amount down on a purchase for Lexus GX550 which would put me at same or close to the payment on this deal.

For a 580 that’s a much easier decision at the similar pricing

They didn’t even mention Amex/fleet and I wasn’t aware there was that incentive. I wonder how they will respond to that when I go back to them on this.

I returned by 740i in March and was hoping to try the S Class but may have to revisit the 740 especially with the lease terms looking better than a few months ago.

They factored in the $5k dealer cash into the discount. Amex would give you $500 on top of that.

Word of advice, don’t put a down pmt on a lease.

Spending the time putting a calc together will better help you dissect this deal…otherwise you will leave thousands on the table.

As someone who went from a 2022 750i to a 2023 S500, I found myself missing the BMW more than I thought I would. Tech is more seamless in the BMW (and I imagine even better in the new 7 series). Fit and finish surprisingly better in the BMW. Power was nice in the S500 but I found it a little lacking at times. Door handles on the S class drove me a little crazy along with the doors feeling very heavy when exiting the car (they don’t want to hold open so you have to really push it out- soft close=hard open). These are all small annoyances I know but they built up for me. The S class does win by miles in the looks department IMO.

If I were you I’d take a good look at the new 7 series. They can be leased for under $1k/mo generally and there may be some aged units out there to make for a much better deal than the S class. Especially since you qualify for loyalty.

These actually do surprise me. The tech on the new S does take a little getting used to but I’ve found it pretty easy to navigate once you get the hang of it. Plus the voice command system will literally do everything for you if you don’t want to mess with the giant ipad.

I don’t understand why MB did away with the magnetic door stop. Up until our 2015 model, we had it and it was great.

The current programs on the 7 series definitely seem to be a better value if that is what one is chasing. The S class is very much so loyalty driven vs cost driven which is why dealers are not overly aggressive and the MBFS programs are mediocre compared to rivals. That said, @calirida, based on the numbers you presented, the discount is not the worst (i do think you should press for more), and certainly do not allow them to build in those add ons. A 36 month term will probably save you an additional ~$100/month.

Lol yeah the TLDR of any review between the BMW 7 and S-Class has boiled down to people wishing Mercedes designed the exterior, but BMW handles the interior, chassis, and UX with iDrive.
