Deal Check: 2025 VW ID.4 AWD Pro S - Asheville, NC

I’m considering leasing a Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro S in North Carolina. I started my search with the VW 24-month $209/mo + $4,449 DAS deal (it’s based on $54,095 MSRP BTW). I contacted my local dealer and got this:

I’d like to know…

  • Is this a decent deal? Seems a bit high to me
  • Is the “Doc Fee” expected or just an attempt for more profit?
  • Am I likely to get a much better deal with a one-pay lease? (I’d expect no since the MF seems low but I’d love a gut-check).

FWIW, I plan to at least negotiate away the FPF Ceramic best I can. I appreciate the help and l will follow up as the deal develops!

Calculator: (36mo w/ $3k down, 24mo w/ $3k down)

How does this compare w/ other ID.4 AWD Pro S deals you’ve seen here?

That was the wrong place to start. That ad, just like all ads, is trash anyway. Excludes thousand of dollars of TTL and fees on top of the $4449 DAS.

You can get a much better deal on an EV in the Marketplace

Your selling price is almost 3K more than MSRP…

I had trouble finding a 1-to-1 comparison, so it’s tough for me to say. I’ve seen some significantly better deals in states I’ve heard have much better incentives (like this one on a higher end trim in CA*) and others that seem improbably low (this $45/mo one).

Edit: I misinterpreted that post and CA does not have any statewide purchase incentive I think.

Looking now, thanks!

According to VW, the MSRP is $55,915 (Base MSRP + paint upgrade + destination). I’m not sure how to account for the the rest :man_shrugging:

Well, I looked and couldn’t find any NC VW ID.4 deals. Am I missing something?

I’m too lazy to change the privacy settings on my web browser, so I can’t see the contract itself for the first link.

Was there a CA-specific rebate for that deal that doesn’t apply to your situation?

What was the pre-incentive/-rebate discount on that deal vs. what you are being offered?

Look beyond VW and if necessary look at deals in neighboring states

I was mistaken! There’s no CA-specific rebate. Just the federal $7500. I’m digging into how things might be slightly different in that offer to explain the delta in payment price:

  • $8,676.44 cap cost reduction paid up front in CA instead of rolled into payments (I think)
  • 7.5k miles/yr as opposed to the 10k in my quote
  • Dealer and DMV fees are much lower

There might be more but I’m a novice at parsing these contracts

Absolutely. I’m looking into similar EVs (Ionic 5, Soltera) and I’ve contacted a few other dealers in NC/SC. Only got back one other quote so far which seems… absolutely insane to me.

Here it is for your amusement:

Yikes, $2K in BS add ons.

Maybe check out of state (incl using a broker)?

Stop doing that immediately

Do not contact anyone anyone until you’ve firmly established which vehicle is the best candidate and what payment to target

Stop doing that immediately

Sincere question: Why? I don’t believe there’s a vehicle that’s the “best candidate” for me. I’m flexible.

It’s been discussed many times. Search the forum for “how to make offers” or “how to negotiate.” Asking for a quote establishes the anchoring point of a negotiation where the dealer wants to set it. Any hope of a hacker deal has evaporated at that point.

Being flexible is good. If you then leverage that flexibility into picking the best candidate, ie get the best value. Otherwise what was the point of being flexible?

I’d suggest looking at Lexus RZ, Chevy Blazer/Equinox and Acura ZDX for starters. There’s no single universal answer.
