Not sure this is a hackable car or even a hackable segment.
The ingredients such as a big discount and massive rebates just don’t exist in a segment with small margins.
The real hack in this segment is 0% APR.
Leasehackr has some pre negotiated deals on CX50 in SoCal… these are probably the most reasonable pricing you could negotiate on this segment since there aren’t many opportunities to squeeze more margin from a dealer.
Looks like the implied APR is about 2% with the buy rate money factor. Calculate what you’d be ok spending monthly on this car as if you financed it. Whatever the delta is between the monthly financed payment and the lease payment… save that difference each month. That savings represents the equity as if you bought the car with a loan, but now you earn interest on the savings.
