Deal Check - 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited AWD

Considering pulling the trigger – 3 year, 10k miles, 0 down. This is the “best they can do” after some initial negotiations. SLC, Utah

MSRP 60635
Dealer Discount 636 (I’ve been trying for more but they are holding firm)
Rebate 16,750
Residual 32,136 (53%)
Money factor .0025

604/month with taxes/fees rolled in.

Thoughts? There’s only one other small Hyundai dealer nearby without the trim I want so not a lot of great competitors within several hundred miles.

That’s a terrible deal.

Reach out to some brokers- even with shippping they should be able to beat that easily. Also- try reaching out to some dealers in CO- there was a post where someone in CA was able to get a deal there and pay $750 for shipping.

What would you consider reasonable? Ive seen some signed on here in the 400s

If they don’t want to budge on the discount, find another deal that will.

Same trim? What state?

For what it’s worth I gave up on Ioniq 5 Limited AWDs, nobody wanted to deal. I got a Q6 Quattro for much less at a dealer 30 min from my house. Dealing with the out of state hassle just wasn’t worth it. Ioniq Guy was able to find a CO dealer that did out of state, you’ll probably have luck with them. While the CO incentive doesn’t transfer, the inventory dynamics there are in your favor.

I think there are like 20 i5 Limited AWDs in all of California, and more aren’t coming in. They’re betting someone isn’t cross shopping with cars like Q6, really really wants just this car, or doesn’t have the benefit of this community. And in a state of 39M people, they’ll probably find 20 of them.

Colorado does not count since the state provides additional EV rebates for residents.

Let me ask you this question, instead. What discount off MSRP + rebates would you need to be in the 400s?

If I’m doing this correctly (and I knew nothing about car leases 48 hours ago) I think it would be 5% off MSRP + the 17000 incentive:

It’s wild the deals you can find for the lower trims, but I’m having the same issue with the limited.

Then start making offers to dealers.
All it takes is ONE YES.

@zdeegee - How soon do you need a new car?

For context I was offering 8% discount as an opener hoping to negotiate down to 5% and literally nobody offered anything under MSRP. There was one dealer, but then they clawed it all back with scuzzy add ons they wouldn’t remove like vin etching and a spray for fabric or whatever.

I was doing something like that too, they said the invoice was so close to MSRP that they wouldn’t
:man_shrugging:

About 2 weeks :grimacing:

You have time.

EDIT: When you are making offers, tell the dealer you will sign today if they agree to your numbers. Of course, only say so if you actually plan to do so.

I have an over the phone quote for same trim and color in CO from their manager (i specifically made sure they werent including the CO resident EV rebate) for 489, but they won’t give it to me on paper so that I dont go haggle with my local dealers (their words, which in fairness is what i would do)

Its 4.5 hours away and im somewhat skeptical but probably going to go check it out and if nothing else weekend trip to some national parks and do some hiking.

Several of my local dealers who ive tried to get more off msrp have shown me the invoice price and the msrp being only a few hundred dollars off, as why they can’t do anything more for me, but I don’t know how true that is.

Invoice is irrelevant. It doesn’t include mfg to dealer incentives, sales bonuses, advertising, etc.

I like written proposals so I initiate and reach out to management if possible- GM, GSM, or SM. Don’t waste time with the junior sales rep.

In your proposals- you should state a clear, concise, time-sensitive, actionable offer proposal. I would spell out in stock model with VIN and stock #. MSRP $XXXXX. What you are looking for: 7% pre-incentive discount- selling price = $xxxxxx. term: 36/10. No dealer add ons. buyrate MF=0.000101. Incentives=$17000. Due At Signing=$3000 (driveoffs only). Monthly= $275 including of ZIP (10.5% sales tax).

All your #s have to be spot on for your ZIP for this to be possible.

Make it is clear that if accepted, you will sign. (and give a time- today, this evening, etc) And of course- follow thru.

Coastal Motor Group (CMG) brokers does do out of state deals, but they are different from the typical CA ones. Reach out to them and see what they can do.
