Hi generous hackrs! I’m new to leasing and don’t want to get fleeced. Can you take a look at the below offer? I welcome suggestions how to negotiate improvements if it’s meh.
We are leasing in order to capture the $7,500 federal rebate (for which we wouldn’t otherwise be eligible). My husband wants to pay off the lease right away; I’m not so sure that’s a good idea. Thank you so much in advance for your time!
2024 VW ID.4 S - Northern California (94303)
Lease Term: 24 Months 10,000 Miles
Money Factor: 0.0004 (per dealer email, haven’t seen this in writing)
Residual Value: $23,951.13
We have excellent credit (if it matters). Salesperson says estimated monthly payment will be $293.46. Of course I can’t get to this number with any of the online calculators. :-/
You don’t want to be tied to this depreciating boat anchor all the way down.
As of now the best strategy with EVs is to take advantage of any of the great lease deals and just lease them in succession until that changes.
Secondly the ID4 is a poor value for what features you get. Talk to a multi brand broker in the California Marketplace such as @Jeff_BeachCitiesAuto about which EV is the best value lease right now.
Or look through success stories in Signed Deals & Tips for yourself. Ofc pay attention to which conditional rebates they were or were not eligible for, because those things and taxes will impact your ability to achieve the same result.
Other posters have interpreted this as buying out the car. I assume your husband “just” wants to effectively do a one pay (or two pay, I guess), even though I don’t think VW offers a reduction in MF for that? Can you clarify?
If the MF is really that low, I cannot imagine what the benefit of pay off the lease early would be (or making such a large cap cost reduction).
Thanks for this input everyone. Yes to paying off the lease almost immediately, my husband just hates payments, but could be persuaded. Also, can you tell me how the lease looks for this particular vehicle? We’re not really interested in another make or model at this time.
