The only part of this that is not making sense to me is that when I plug every value exactly the same as the Lease Worksheet onto the Leasehackr calculator I get $454/month instead of $493.21…
If I remember correctly… every $1,000 in the price is equivalent to roughly $30 on the monthly payment, yes? The dealer installed package amounts to $861.
There’s still a $500 to $600 different in vehicle price that I can’t put my finger on… Could it be that they are adding GAP even though Subaru leases already include GAP? AM I overanalyzing the deal?
By definition a car that has been leased has to be returned and then you need another vehicle. So if you replace this lease with another lease in three years time, then you will have made almost $36,000 in lease payments over six years … for a car selling for $34,xxx plus tax.
The equity outcomes in the two scenarios are extremely lopsided. It becomes more if you project further and trade that owned Subaru in for the tax savings, vs none on the leased one.
