Deal Check - 2024 RAV4 Prime XSE w/ PP

,

Hi all,

I’m located in Texas and the dealership is located in CT. First time leasing and have done a good amount of research on the topic. Would be arranging shipping to me. Not planning on doing a buyout, because my partner doesn’t want to.

$0 down, 36 month - 10,000 miles/year
MF = .00264
RV = $29,808

I told the salesperson that I’d be putting the max number (9) of security deposits. MF should be .00192 (will follow up on that math). Questioned the CT VIN mark and “Registration” charge. $999 doc fee is excessive on their part. Anything else look off to y’all or something I need to question?

Thank y’all for your input!

Since the car will be registered in Texas, not sure if you have to pay the 399 CT Vin charge. Also, check availability of RAV4 VIN#-specific discounts/incentives as well as available tax credits in Texas via the fund provider. Provider may cover taxes or, at minimum, may assess a lower sales tax rate to energize sales for some models. Texas levies sales tax on the sell price and so, a tax credit could help a lot.

The dealer discount of only 3.3% off MSRP seems weak to me. Do your own research and establish a reasonable selling price in your market. MF does look high and is probably marked up.

Its not, thats buy rate on these. Toyota has high leasing on almost all vehicles when compared to other brands

OP have you looked into a Sportage Plugin XLINE Prestige? Programs are WAY better than Rav4 and its the same size and features

Yes, we have. That’s actually our second option and it’s starting to look like our top pick based on price and availability.

$728 for a RAV4?

Just buy the thing if you want it that bad.

$26,000+ spent plus the foregone interest on 9 MSD to just give a $50k priced car back in 3 years and start over again. That should obviously be a hard pass.

I’ve checked with local dealers and there’s no sales tax credits being offered, higher MF, PIOs, and higher monthly payments. That’s why I’ve been searching in the northeast.

Thanks for the feedback!

That’s a typical doc fee in New England unfortunately.

As for the lease I’m not sure about with Texas taxes but check one pay options as well. I think even with Texas upfront tax you still save a bit leasing vs buying these.

If you don’t need the premium package I can do 4500 off msrp with a lower doc fee fyi

If this has to be Toyota i would check the offers from @Ryan_S and @autopia .
Not sure if anyone else here offers Toyota in TX.
Why not Chevy? @ChevyGuy or @ChevyCoach

Texas prob doesn’t get many if any primes. Toyota sends these to certain areas many dealers get none. My Philly dealer never does but in nj they get tons. Makes no sense

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but the Equinox is most comparable to the RAV4. Even had to Google it to make sure haha

2025 Equinox ICE LT only using the GM rewards card rebate and $1500 DAS and you’d have a mid 300s payment

2024 Equinox EV LT only using the GM rewards card and $1500 DAS and you’d have a mid-high 300s payment

My wife specifically wants a plug-in hybrid. I think we’re ruling out the Prime at this point.

Kia Sportage PHEV is next in line followed by Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.

Thanks for everyone’s input! :saluting_face:

Wow. The CEO of Toyota will appreciate that from his big boat for paying $720/m more to drive his car. LOL.
No offence. I am about to sign the lease for plug in hybrid MB GLC350e for $640/m, 24/12. Slightly different car.

At least please look at Marketplace here and see plug in hybrids from Volvo brand.
