I feel like I’m seeing a lot better in other regions even for a SEL AWD, but the three dealers I’m working with in Seattle don’t seem to want to budge. I’ve already talked down the MF to 0.00279 (from 0.00319). But they won’t even remove the “Anti-Theft Policy”, claiming it the discount is steep enough.
Edit: forgot to mention that I’m 100% not going to keep the car after 2 years. So I’m factoring in the $400 end-of-lease fee as well.
I believe there have been quite a few deals for SEL AWDs that go from like $7k - $9k (granted these are one-pays). If you can afford to do it, consider a one-pay, and you might be able to save up to $2,500 (depending on terms and how certain items are taxed).
If you’re looking to shop out of state, I can tell you from my experience in so cal, it’s mostly been horrendous. A lot of unmotivated dealers and a lot of deceptive advertising – most of which are advertising only a $7,500 lease incentive and are either trying to pocket the rest or offer $2,500 as a “dealer discount.” One dealer advertised ~$15k off a LTD AWD; so I tried making an offer using their advertised discount ($10k rebate + $5k discount) and they offered a RWD model. Considering there are over 1k Ioniq 5s in transit or on the lots in so cal, I thought they would be at the least reasonable. Nope
Seems like a good deal. The AWD on the SE model is really bumping up the cost. You might be better off with an SEL AWD. The SEL has a lower money factor, but gives up 1% in RV.
I this area, I feel like there are way more SEL AWD on the lots, but I was specifically looking for SE AWD for the smaller wheels (more efficient) and ability to buy cheaper snow tires.
Looks like they applied a 40 BPs markup on your MF; added anti-theft policy as well. Sucks to see how difficult it is in the Seattle area.
I’m temporarily down in so cal and helped a family member get a SEL RWD yesterday, after weeks of emails and lies. Literally within an hour before I was going to pay a little more, a dealer here reached out and we were able to get one for 7,065 one-pay for 24 months.
Well done! I think a 4.5k reduction in MSRP before discounts is pretty strong for WA (sadly).
I’m wondering if you got hold of the anti-theft policy T&C when you signed and if they had a refund clause? I’ve seen some tacked on policies that aren’t prepaid maintenance have terms that allow you to cancel for a full or partial refund within 90 days of policy activation.
Thanks. Yes both the MF and anti-theft thing are annoying. This particular dealership (Seattle Hyundai) absolutely refused to remove the anti-theft, but were willing to basically give it back in discounts. A competing dealership (Everett) refused to move on the MF, even though I showed it could be lower. I guess in the end I don’t really care as long as the monthly was as low as I could get it.
Also, congrats on that deal! Another thing about Seattle is they just won’t do one pays.
