New member here in Pennsylvania. In a region/demographic where if I even mention getting an EV, I’m scolded and told “you’re an idiot”.
That being said I have my eye on an XC40 recharge. A local dealer is sitting on FIVE, some never driven and idling for a year untouched. They’re offering massive discounts to move them though someone here posted that some recharge used prices are crazy low, having me worry getting it new may be a bad idea. I’m also aware the 2024 has an improved battery and slightly more range.
Here’s their offer details:
2023 XC40 Recharge Pure Electric Ultimate twin motor (manufactured 11/22)

-6500 dealer discount (due to age?)
-1500 volvo lease cash

+tax 62
+non tax fees 1204
Balance: $46,355
36mo/10k miles -----

$3000 down $525/m
$5000 down, $465/m
Not really a great lease deal. You’re actually getting $6500 off MSRP, the balance of that $17K is incentives you’re entitled to regardless and I dont really factor it as a discount. Is the cash down really a down payment or just cash DAS (due at signing)?
If the car really has a 11/2022 build date, then you want a much more significant discount exceeding what others have posted on here before on the XC40 Recharge. I’d do 20% off MSRP before the $10500 in incentives.
Oh, this is what you replied to me about in the other thread. Yeah it seems like you would be better off road tripping the CPO at $37k back from Allentown - or surely the local Nissan store has Ariyas they don’t know what to do with?
That’s a lot for a 2023 model with poor range, especially for PA winters. The 2024s have respectable range, but of course, they’re more. It’s going to be hard for any dealership to move these 2023 models in the colder states in the upcoming winter months.
I’m open to suggestions! Don’t hate on someone for their first time post here.
I’ve done a ton ton of research over the year and want something by year end. Have great offers a Solterra and a Niro EV though I’m not in love. Basic requirements are range over 350km, a good hatch that can fit bikes inside with laid down rear seats, and fun/comfortable to drive.
Actually have an offer on an Ariya engage+ though the price is a bit high for what I want to pay, and it’s lacking pro pilot 2 and the moonroof.
The solterra limited offer is $410/m lease, 36m/10k. Niro EV Wave $399 all in, 36m/10k. The solterra range is just too low and the EV Niro just seems to basic for me. I had a Niro hybrid and want something new and fresh. Hoping to keep a payment at $400/ or less, money down is optional.
The Engage is the 2nd lowest trim, you need a Evolve (which has 360 and pano opening sunroof).
Propilot 2 is nice, I only have the normal one so it doesn’t follow the navi.
But just remember to compare apples to apples.
XC40 Recharge doesn’t have Propilot 2 (or it’s equivalent)
VW ID4 you need to the Pro S
Ioniq 5 you need the Limited
So don’t settle for an Engage if you are really looking for a Premier or Platinum
Proposal on the engage+ was $600/m $0down, $500/, $3000 down. I told the dealer I’ll only take it with the federal tax credit which apparently Nissan is stealing from customers.
At first I was told engage+ has the moonroof. The dealer made a mistake. Even I didn’t understand the trim levels, there are way too many for this vehicle.
Venture - Long range and cloth seats
Engage - Normal range - Pleather
Evolve - Add 360 camera and sunroof and digital mirror
Premier / Empower - I think it’s ProPilot 2
Platinum - Leather
Personally I think this is pretty solid. XC40 Recharge is my favorite EV on the market because it doesn’t look like an EV.
$6500 dealer discount means the dealer is essentially making $0 on the car or taking a loss factoring in holdback. Seems like there is 11% of margin on them based on all the data points here
