Deal Check: 2022 Honda Odyssey Touring

Hello All,

My wife and I are expecting our 4th child this October and need a minivan that will comfortably fit 3 car seats. We have test drove and decided on the 2022 Honda Odyssey Touring. I understand there are no incentives going on and there is a nationwide inventory shortage. I have one dealer who is willing to work with me through email and have gotten to this final offer. I know it is not great, but feel like in the current conditions, it may not get much better. We are pretty set on this specific vehicle and trim. Dealer refused to do $10 less per month unless I went with 10k miles. Let me know your thoughts.

Year, Make, Model, and Trim: 2022 Honda Odyssey Touring
MSRP: $43,975
Selling Price: $40,700
Monthly Payment: $525 ($485 + tax)
Drive-Off Amount: $525 + Plates
Months: 36
Annual Mileage:12,000
MF: 0.00140
Residual: 62%
Incentives: None
Region: IL
Leasehackr Score: 7.5

Is this Honda Financial lease?

To my knowledge, yes. But I did not ask.

Is there a trade or lease return involved?

So I do actually have a 2018 Buick Enclave lease due back by October this year, but I did not mention that as part of the deal. I received a buyout quote from Carvana a couple of days ago and they offered $3k more than the purchase amount from GM Financial.

Take both. The Odyssey deal in the OP and the equity check from selling the Buick to Carvana or whoever is the highest bidder.

So you think it is not worth waiting around to try and get a better deal than $525/month? It hurts comparing this to my previous two lease deals. I just know a lot is out of my control with these conditions.

$485 plus tax isn’t bad at all for a brand new Touring… might be the one 6+ passenger vehicle that hasn’t shot up massively in the current situation

I checked the marketplace and your deal seems to be in line with what I could find. Plus you have some equity in your current lease to soften the blow. You could see if the dealer wants to buy it but you’ll likely do better with carmax, vroom, etc. Plus the dealer may try to roll the equity into a down payment which you want to avoid.

As a reference I had multiple Honda dealers quote me $475+ on Accords with a 10k lower MSRP.

That isn’t a bad deal IMO given the current market. Are you sure you need the Touring? The biggest difference is the rear seat entertainment, navigation, and cabin watch. Is that worth the $4k more compared to an EXL?

Yes, unfortunately it’s a requirement for my 4 year old son.

I felt the same way but after owning it, wish I would just bought an iPad. I prefer the navigation through Apple car play, so the next one will be just an EXL more than likely.

Yea I am not a fan of car navigation either. Time will tell if the entertainment system is worth it for the 3 young ones. Better than buying 3 iPads

No. You get 1 iPad and watch them fight battle royale style to decide who gets to play what. Fun times.

No better time to educate him about the chip shortage :imp:

was looking at exl but seems only touring and elite have parking sensors

don’t need the other things ( rear entertainment, cabin talk, navigation)

anyway to add parking sensors aftermarket?

All of them have rear view camera. Parking sensors can be added aftermarket. Most dealers will add them as well.

EDIT: found the answer here, or at least in 2018

Do they function like the stock parking sensors that come with Touring/Elite? in terms of integration with the car, dashboard screen, etc

I wouldn’t go aftermarket… very likely to be cheap junk with a nominal 1yr “warranty”. Even if you can track down the manufacturer and get replacement parts, GL getting the dealer to install again for free.

Trade up to the trim that has it as a factory option or just forget about it.

I very much doubt these are the same as the factory sensors. Our family car is an Odyssey Elite and the parking sensors use the infotainment to display distance from obstruction overlaid onto a picture of the van.
