I’ve been offered a 2021 Mercedes Benz GLB 35 AMG, and have used their worksheet to get as close as possible to the price using the Lease Calculator, but unless I’m missing something I’m being worked over on the $3500 down payment. Can someone let me know if I’m missing something? Seems like my calculation gets me to the same payment without a $3500 deposit. Dealer worksheet transcribed below:

MSRP: $56,330
Price: $53,621.79
Term: 48 mo
Mileage: 10k
RV: 55%
MF: 0.0009 (reduced from 0.0016 with 10x MSD)
Acq Fee: $1,095

Seems to me that I’ve put everything listed above into the lease calculator, minus the down payment, and come to the same monthly payment (this reduces the MSD payments to $6500, correct?). Another note is that I’m located in NJ, but in the lease calculator I’m choosing to include the tax in the monthly payment.

Any advice on how to approach this?

You need to put the pre-msd mf into the calculator not the post. When you select the number of MSDs applied, it adjusts the mf accordingly.

Sales Tax needs to have the second radio button selected @ 6.625%.

The gov fees presumably already include the luxury surcharge of 0.4% of the selling price, since actual reg/title fees are in the 300s.

Great, thanks folks. Below is a link to my new calculation without the down payment the dealer included.

Also, does anyone have any thoughts on additional levers I can pull to try to get the payment down? Strategies for lower selling price, higher residual, etc? I would love to get the payment down to $550/mo, but that would require a 56% RV and 8% off MSRP…

Rv is fixed. Mf can only be lowered to buy rate if it starts marked up.

A good GLB discount would be closer to 12% - but on a GLB35, which are very hard to find and sell quick, you can’t get very picky.

Got it. So within the framework of this lease, the fixed values are MSRP, Term, Miles, RV, MF (let’s take this as a good rate and assume fixed), MSD, Down Payment (zero), Fees, and Taxes, and the only available levers left would be a discount on MSRP or an incentive that is not currently available. Is this a good summary for a beginner (because MATH)?

Would 8% off be out of the question if I have 2 months to work a deal (would sign tomorrow at my goal payment) and will travel a reasonable distance for pickup?

Basically. The dealer can mark up mf or add on fees/crap and incentives aren’t limited to a single dealer with rare exception, so pre-incentive discount is basically the knob to turn

It’s not an unreasonable offer but the next GLB35 I see on a lot in NJ will be the first. Are you ordering or did you find one? Honestly, I’m surprised they even gave you 5% off, if this is what you must have it’s not gonna be a unicorn.

On your updated calculator, if you check " Pay acquisition fee upfront" upfront the DAS will line-up better.
